Role description
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer to join our clients data and analytics team onsite near Modesto, CA. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, building, and modernizing our enterprise data architecture using the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. You will work closely with cross-functional business partners, systems architects, and business intelligence developers to transform raw data into scalable, high-performing data lakes, pipelines, and analytical solutions. Key Responsibilities β€’ Data Architecture & Engineering: Design, build, and maintain scalable end-to-end data pipelines and Lakehouses using Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Synapse Data Engineering, Data Factory, and Real-Time Analytics). β€’ ETL/ELT Development: Build robust data pipelines utilizing Dataflows Gen2, Fabric Pipelines, and PySpark / T-SQL notebooks for efficient data ingestion and transformation. β€’ Semantic Layer & Modeling: Design and optimize Direct Lake mode semantic models in Power BI / Fabric to ensure low-latency, real-time reporting capabilities. β€’ Governance & Security: Implement best practices for data governance, security, row-level security (RLS), and workspace environments (Dev/Test/Prod) within the Microsoft Fabric tenant. β€’ Optimization: Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize capacity unit (CU) consumption, query performance, and pipeline execution times within Microsoft Fabric. β€’ Collaboration: Partner with business analysts and BI developers to understand requirements and translate them into reliable data models. Qualifications & Requirements β€’ Fabric Expertise: Proven experience developing and deploying solutions within Microsoft Fabric (or heavy experience transitioning from Azure Synapse Analytics / Azure Data Factory / Databricks to Fabric). β€’ Data Engineering Stack: β€’ Proficiency in PySpark, SQL, and Python. β€’ Strong mastery of relational data modeling, Star Schema, and Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers). β€’ Power BI Integration: Experience creating, managing, and optimizing Direct Lake semantic models and DAX. β€’ Onsite Requirement: Ability to work 100% onsite near Modesto, CA from Monday through Friday. Preferred Qualifications β€’ Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600). β€’ Experience with enterprise ERP/CRM data sources (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle, or SQL Server). β€’ Background in CI/CD deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub integrated with Fabric.
