Job Description
Microsoft Fabric Platform Architect
Location: Remote (Remote)
Employment Type: Contract
Role Overview
We are seeking a Microsoft Fabric Platform Architect to serve as the technical authority for an enterprise analytics environment built on Microsoft Fabric. This role owns the architecture, governance, and evolution of a modern data and analytics platform, ensuring scalability, security, performance, and cost efficiency while enabling broad, self-service analytics across the organization. This is a senior, hands-on platform role that blends architecture, governance, and enablement. The ideal candidate has deep experience operating Fabric at scale and enjoys setting standards, designing guardrails, and mentoring others while partnering closely with data, analytics, and AI teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Architect and maintain end-to-end Microsoft Fabric architecture, including OneLake design, domain structures, and workspace hierarchies.
• Manage and optimize Fabric capacities (F-SKUs) with a focus on performance, reliability, and cost control.
• Configure and govern tenant settings, security controls, and access models to balance agility with compliance.
• Design and operate cross-platform data integration patterns, including near real-time synchronization with Snowflake.
• Define and enforce workspace strategies, naming conventions, lifecycle management, and deployment pipelines.
• Establish reusable architecture patterns and technical guardrails that support scalable analytics delivery.
• Contribute to or help lead a Data & Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE), standardizing ingestion, transformation, and consumption practices.
• Partner with analytics and AI teams to support advanced capabilities such as Fabric Data Agents, Copilot, and Real-Time Intelligence.
• Track the Microsoft Fabric roadmap and translate new capabilities into actionable platform strategy.
• Serve as a senior technical mentor for Power BI and Fabric users, advising on Direct Lake modeling, advanced DAX, and performance optimization.
• Provide senior-level troubleshooting across capacities, pipelines, semantic models, and workspaces.
• Create documentation, best practices, and deliver workshops to drive adoption and data literacy.
Required Qualifications
• Proven experience architecting and operating Microsoft Fabric in production environments.
• Deep expertise with OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, and Fabric capacities.
• Advanced Power BI knowledge, including Direct Lake, complex DAX, XMLA endpoints, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with Data Factory (Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2) and enterprise data integration.
• Familiarity with Snowflake integration patterns (mirroring or replication preferred).
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience defining or operating a Data & Analytics Center of Excellence.
• Background supporting decentralized, self-service analytics at enterprise scale.
• Familiarity with governance, security, and compliance requirements in regulated environments.
• Experience using Python and/or PySpark within Fabric notebooks.
Why This Role
This is not a reporting or dashboard development role. This position owns the analytics platform itself, shaping how teams across the organization access, govern, and scale data and insights. You will have a direct impact on platform reliability, user adoption, and long-term analytics strategy.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $75.00/hr - $85.00/hr. This position is a contract role where employees are paid based on an hourly rate.
This employer is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or protected veteran status and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability.
