Role description
Modelling & Insights Specialist Fixed Term Contract 12 months Hybrid / UK based The Ellen MacArthur Foundation develops and promotes the idea of a circular economy — one that is restorative and regenerative by design. Through research, business collaboration and advocacy, the Foundation works to accelerate the global transition from a linear take-make-waste economy to one that designs out waste and pollution; keeps products and materials in use and regenerates natural systems. After 15 years setting the ambition across the globe resulting in 100+ countries with strategic circular economy roadmaps and 55% of businesses with a circular economy strategy, we are now entering a new phase around implementation and scale up of the circular economy in action in the Global South as well as the Global North. Fashion is a priority area for this new era; this is an exciting opportunity to join our Fashion & Textiles team as a Modelling & Insights Specialist. You will provide modelling and analytical expertise to produce credible, robust quantitative and qualitative insights on the current state and future trajectory of the fashion industry. You will also act as a critical internal voice, rigorously stress-testing analyses to ensure accuracy, credibility and actionable recommendations. Our commitment to you We are keen to receive applications from people from underrepresented backgrounds, including (but not limited to) those of colour, people with disabilities, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, and people from other marginalised groups.  It is important to us that our recruitment approach makes the opportunity as accessible as possible and ensures a diverse range of people can demonstrate their potential.  We would be happy to provide any further support that you may require - please get in touch so that we can work together. If you would like further information on our diversity and inclusion policy or any further assistance, please contact us at recruitment@ellenmacarthurfoundation.org. Role and Responsibilities • Analytical research and economic/environmental modelling: Lead end to end research on the fashion and textiles industry - including research design, data methodology, parameter-setting, assumptions, and limitations. Produce models, datasets, written reports, and data visualisations for internal use and external publication. • Quality assurance: Conduct rigorous review and stress testing of analytical outputs, to identify methodological weaknesses and ensure robustness before external publication. • Insight communication: Translate complex findings into clear, compelling narratives for corporate, investor, and policy audiences. Collaborative with internal teams and external stakeholders to integrate insights from broader research. • Data strategy and management: Decide when to conduct desk research, commission primary research, or procure external datasets. Collaborate with legal and technology teams to establish robust data storage and processing procedures, including AI driven analytical efficiencies. • Industry informed analysis: Apply knowledge of commercial dynamics, corporate strategy and value chain pressures  to ensure modelling and analysis are credible, relevant, and actionable for the target audience. • Project leadership: Manage multi-phase, multi-workstream projects, coordinating internal teams and external teams. Manage timelines, resources, and risks and support the development of junior team members through guidance and review. Your Profile • Minimum 7 years' relevant work experience in economic and/or environmental modelling, quantitative data analysis, or a closely related analytical discipline. • Strong track record of building and running models of financial and/or material flows - ideally including scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis, and assumption documentation. • Evidence of working within corporate strategy, investment, or financial decision-making processes, with an understanding of how analytical evidence is used in commercial contexts. • Knowledge of the fashion or textiles industry is strongly preferred. • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, delivering high-quality outputs to tight deadlines and coordinating across internal and external stakeholders. • Evidence of communicating complex analytical findings clearly to senior internal stakeholders (we may ask for examples of your work during the interview process). • Excellent written and spoken English. Why Join the Ellen MacArthur Foundation? • Mission-Driven Work: Be part of an organisation working on some of the most pressing challenges of our time: circular economy and systemic change. • Collaborative Culture: Work in a dynamic, diverse, and collaborative environment where every team member is valued and empowered to contribute. • Growth and Impact: Play a key role in shaping an organisation that is influencing global systems and driving positive environmental change • Work-Life Balance: We believe in creating a healthy, balanced work environment. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation offers flexible working options to support the well-being of our employees. Please click the link where you will be asked to upload a CV and covering letter. We welcome the thoughtful use of tools, but applications should reflect your own skills, experience, and voice; over-reliance on AI-generated content tends not to reflect authenticity in applications. Desired starting date: April/May 2026 - this is a fixed term contract for 12 months. Closing date: 2nd April 2026 Salary package: circa £59,000 per annum plus generous holiday allowance, 25 days plus UK Bank Holidays plus discretionary organisational extra days leave at Christmas and Easter, generous parental leave; enhanced pension options/private health scheme after 6 months; wellbeing programme. Location: We have offices in Cowes on the Isle of Wight and at Somerset House in London but, depending on circumstances, we also welcome individuals to work remotely from anywhere in the UK. We cannot support remote working from overseas for this role. Please note we are unable to sponsor a Skilled Worker Visa for this role. Applicants must have an existing right to work in the UK valid for at least the length of the fixed term contract of 12 months. Application process: • Initial Zoom meeting with our Talent team and prospective Line manager to start the process (we will send you the outline of the interview, so you know what to expect). • A work-related assignment to complete at home or as part of the interview process so we know you will be comfortable with the type of work you would do here. • Interview with our People Team, Team Lead and prospective manager. This may be based in our offices in London, Brussels or Isle of Wight. Alternatively, this meeting will be via Zoom as we recognise travel isn’t always possible, especially for our international candidates. • For more senior roles we will conduct a presentation interview too. What we do The Ellen MacArthur Foundation develops and promotes the idea of a circular economy.  We work with, and inspire, business, academia, policymakers, and institutions to mobilise systems solutions at scale, globally. Our mission is to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. Our vision is a new economic system that delivers better outcomes for people and the environment. Business models, products, and materials are designed to increase use and reuse, replicating the balance of the natural world, where nothing becomes waste, and everything has value. A circular economy, increasingly built on renewable energy and materials, is distributed, diverse, and inclusive.
