Role description
About the Company
We are seeking an experienced Ontology / Knowledge Graph Engineer to design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade semantic knowledge graphs and ontology frameworks. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex domain knowledge and scalable data architecture—transforming unstructured and structured data into rich, interconnected graph models to drive graph analytics, semantic reasoning, and entity resolution across the enterprise.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Ontology / Knowledge Graph Engineer to design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade semantic knowledge graphs and ontology frameworks. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex domain knowledge and scalable data architecture—transforming unstructured and structured data into rich, interconnected graph models to drive graph analytics, semantic reasoning, and entity resolution across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
• Ontology & Semantic Modeling: Design, implement, and maintain domain ontologies, taxonomies, and knowledge models using standards such as OWL, RDF, RDFS, and JSON-LD.
• Knowledge Graph Architecture: Lead ontology-driven Knowledge Graph (KG) design, integrating both RDF graphs and Property Graphs to support scalable query performance and data integration.
• Inference & Validation: Implement ontological inference, consistency checking, and data shape validation using SHACL to ensure high data quality and semantic alignment.
• Entity Resolution & Analytics: Develop and optimize entity resolution strategies, semantic linking, and graph analytics pipelines to harmonize disparate data sources.
• Graph Querying & Development: Write and optimize complex SPARQL and Cypher queries to interrogate graph databases and expose semantic APIs.
• Tooling & Platform Management: Manage and maintain ontology modeling tools (e.g., Protégé, TopBraid) and enterprise triple stores/graph databases.
Qualifications
• Core Domain & Skills
• Semantic Web & Ontology Standards: Expert-level mastery of OWL, RDF, SPARQL, SHACL, and JSON-LD.
• Knowledge Modeling: Strong background in Ontology Engineering, Knowledge Modeling, and Semantic Modeling.
• Graph Data Modeling: Hands-on experience with both RDF triples/quads and Property Graph models.
• Reasoning & Data Quality: Proven expertise in ontological inference, consistency checking, and semantic validation.
• Data Integration: Experience in Entity Resolution, identity linkage, and ontology-driven KG design.
Required Skills
• Technologies & Tooling
• Ontology Editors: Experience with tools such as Protégé, TopBraid Composer, or OntoStudio.
• Graph Databases & Triple Stores: Expertise in enterprise platforms such as Neo4j, Stardog, GraphDB, Blazegraph, or Virtuoso.
• Semantic Frameworks: Hands-on knowledge of Apache Jena, Fuseki, or similar semantic processing engines.
Work Environment
• Onsite Requirement: This position requires working in-office 5 days a week at our Berkeley Heights, NJ facility.
