Role description
Title: OCP Engineer Location: Dallas, TX / Irving, TX (5 Days Onsite) Job Description We are seeking an experienced OCP (OpenShift Container Platform) Engineer to drive enterprise-level transformation and platform modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in OpenShift engineering, cloud automation, and large-scale containerized environments, with the ability to influence architecture direction and support mission-critical initiatives. Responsibilities: • Design, influence, and execute enterprise-wide transformation initiatives to enable OpenShift adoption while ensuring alignment with architecture, security, and technology frameworks. • Evangelize OpenShift capabilities, challenges, and security benefits to technical and business teams. • Develop and implement cloud-based procedures, continuous monitoring strategies, compliance controls, and cloud asset inventory solutions. • Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems to ensure maximum platform stability and availability. • Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills to innovate, challenge the status quo, and deliver strategic solutions. • Support large-scale Cloud initiatives with broad organizational impact. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex coding, testing, and platform issues. • Ensure effective monitoring, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation across systems. • Collaborate closely with production support and platform engineering teams. • Develop standards and best practices for engineering and enterprise-scale cloud solutions. • Design, optimize, and document engineering components of the cloud platform. • Evaluate industry best practices and emerging technologies, influencing teams to drive new initiatives. • Identify opportunities to optimize resource utilization, improve processes, and reduce operational costs. • Work with senior technical experts, cross-functional teams, and industry groups to resolve complex issues and achieve key technology goals. • Contribute within a globally distributed team to deliver innovative, robust cloud-centric solutions. • Maintain system documentation and provide training and mentorship on OpenShift best practices. Required Qualifications • 8+ years of Software Engineering experience (or equivalent through work, training, military, or education). • 5+ years hands-on experience with OpenShift, including building complex infrastructure via automation/scripting (Bash, Python). • 5+ years' experience deploying, securing, and managing OpenShift in multiple environments. • 5+ years experience with Linux systems and container orchestration. • 3+ years experience with infrastructure automation tools: Ansible, Terraform, etc. • 3+ years experience with Agile/CI/CD/DevOps tools: Jenkins, GitLab, Tekton, Harness, ArgoCD. • 3+ years' experience with observability tools: Splunk, Grafana, AppDynamics, New Relic, Elastic, OpenTelemetry. • Strong background leading architectural discussions and serving as an SME for cloud initiatives. • Practical expertise with cloud methodologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), automation, orchestration, and major cloud vendor offerings. • Experience implementing risk and control requirements for cloud infrastructure. • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) and hybrid infrastructure environments. • Strong understanding of networking, security, and storage concepts for containerized environments. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage technical and business stakeholders. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural, matrix environment with strong ownership and accountability. Desired Qualifications: • Experience with cloud security management or governance tools. • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration (EX280) or equivalent certification. • Knowledge of service mesh, load balancers, and DDI technologies.
