Role description
Senior OpenText Dialogue (Exstream) Developer
Responsibilities
• Batch Composition Mastery
• Architect and maintain scalable, high-throughput batch applications with predictable performance and restartability.
• Develop modular, reusable templates and layouts with shared style libraries, conditional regions, dynamic tables, and deterministic pagination.
• Implement advanced business rules including suppression logic, eligibility, jurisdiction/state variations, and effective-dating of disclosures.
• Ensure compliance with print-oriented requirements such as page numbering, duplex rules, address blocks, inserts, banners, and statement cycles.
PDF + AFP Output Engineering
• Guarantee PDF fidelity across environments with robust font embedding/substitution, image handling, and barcode quality.
• Apply AFP fundamentals including overlays, resource management, and deterministic output for mainframe/print vendor workflows.
• Design channel-parity rules to ensure consistent content across PDF and AFP with controlled exceptions.
Data Integration & Modeling
• Define and govern data contracts with hierarchical structures, repeat groups, and clear attribute handling.
• Build robust data transformations with null/default handling, formatting, and multi-byte text support.
• Implement validation gates and fail/fallback strategies to prevent compliance defects.
• Optimize data usage for batch scale, minimizing expensive per-record operations.
• Performance, Scalability & Stability
• Diagnose and improve throughput by tuning layouts, conditional logic, image usage, and resource loading.
• Manage memory footprint and batch sizing to prevent degradation in long runs.
• Design for operational recovery with deterministic outputs, checkpoint/restart strategies, and re-run safety.
Testing & Quality Assurance
• Develop golden-sample regression suites with baseline outputs and controlled datasets.
• Conduct edge-case testing for extreme data scenarios, overflow conditions, and jurisdictional boundaries.
• Perform defect triage to quickly isolate root causes across data, rules, layout, and resources.
Release Management & Governance
• Maintain version control and promotion discipline with full traceability and rollback readiness.
• Conduct impact analysis across templates/products and disclosures.
• Enforce strong PII controls including masking, secure dataset handling, and retention compliance.
Operations & Orchestration
• Integrate with enterprise schedulers and manage upstream/downstream handoffs.
• Produce operational runbooks with parameters, runtimes, failure modes, and reconciliation checks.
• Monitor job-level KPIs including volumes processed, rejects, runtimes, and exception reasons.
Minimum Qualifications
• 7+ years of hands-on experience with OpenText Exstream (Dialogue) in batch composition.
• Proven expertise in PDF and AFP output engineering.
• Strong background in data integration, modeling, and validation for large-scale batch systems.
• Demonstrated ability to optimize performance and ensure stability in high-volume environments.
• Experience in regulated communications with strict compliance and audit requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience integrating Exstream with enterprise schedulers and orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with mainframe print production workflows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on operational excellence.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
