About The Role
FDM is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator for a 6‑month contract based in Cheshire or Edinburgh. You will support core database engineering activities across installation, configuration, performance optimisation and operational support for Oracle environments.
Our client is looking for a highly experienced Oracle DBA to support the design, implementation, optimisation, and operational reliability of mission‑critical Oracle database environments across on‑prem and cloud platforms.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure and maintain Oracle databases across on‑prem and cloud environments.
Manage backups, restores and disaster recovery, including RMAN and Data Guard.
Perform performance tuning and optimisation at database and OS level.
Support patching, upgrades, migrations and ITIL‑aligned change processes.
Monitor performance and capacity using database monitoring tools.
Contribute to database design, modelling, capacity planning and standards.
Produce clear technical documentation and support knowledge sharing across engineering teams.
About You
Strong hands‑on Oracle DBA experience in enterprise production environments.
Skilled in performance tuning, optimisation and troubleshooting.
Solid understanding of backup, recovery, HA/DR and database security.
Comfortable with Linux (RHEL) for database operations.
Experienced in patching, upgrades and structured change management.
Able to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Nice to have:
Cloud experience (OCI / Azure / AWS), Delphix, SolarWinds, NetBackup or Rubrik.
