About the Role
The Senior OIPA Engineer will be responsible for developing, modernizing, and supporting policy administration and annuity contract applications using the Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA) platform. This role requires deep hands-on experience with OIPA configuration, extensions, integrations, and data models. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to design scalable solutions, enhance system capabilities, and ensure high-quality delivery through modern development and testing practices. This position is suited for someone who is technically strong, collaborative, and eager to innovate within insurance and policy administration systems.
Key ResponsibilitiesOIPA Engineering & Development
Design, develop, and enhance policy administration solutions using the OIPA platform.
Configure key OIPA components including screens, roles, segments, allocations, valuations, AS files, and application security.
Build OIPA extensions and support release management activities.
Develop integrations, data intake processes, and data extraction patterns aligned with OIPA architecture.
Application Modernization & Solution Design
Support modernization of annuity contract generation and account opening applications.
Apply design patterns, UML diagrams, and best-practice engineering principles.
Write and optimize SQL queries and debug stored procedures within Oracle environments.
Testing & Engineering Quality
Follow Test-Driven Development (TDD) using JUnit, Jasmine, Karma, and Protractor.
Implement automated testing and participate in code reviews to maintain engineering standards.
Work with tools such as Spring Tool Suite and Eclipse across UNIX and Windows environments.
Collaboration & Technical Leadership
Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and engineering excellence.
QualificationsRequired
4+ years of hands-on experience with OIPA, including configuration language, integrations, AS files, data intake, extensions, screens, security, and release management.
Strong understanding of OIPA data models, database architecture, and extraction patterns.
Proficiency in SQL and debugging Oracle stored procedures.
Experience applying design patterns and using UML for solution design.
Proficiency with TDD and testing frameworks (JUnit, Jasmine, Karma, Protractor).
Experience with Spring Tool Suite, Eclipse, and development in UNIX/Windows environments.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and collaborative skills.
Preferred
Knowledge of Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
AWS Certification is a plus.
Experience with insurance, annuity, or policy administration systems.
