Oracle /SQL Analyst
Work Arrangement: HYBRID
Onsite Interview.
Employment Type: Contract (Extension Possible)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Oracle / SQL Analyst to support operational reporting, data analysis, automation, and database development initiatives. This role primarily works with large, normalized Oracle transactional databases and requires strong expertise in developing SQL and PL/SQL solutions from scratch.
This is not a traditional Business Intelligence or Dashboard Development role. Approximately 70–80% of the work involves hands-on Oracle PL/SQL development against transactional databases. The ideal candidate must be able to independently analyze business requirements, identify relevant database tables and relationships, and build efficient SQL solutions without relying on pre-built analytical datasets, semantic models, visual query builders, or automated SQL generation tools.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
● Develop, maintain, and optimize complex Oracle SQL and PL/SQL programs.
● Write simple and complex SQL queries from scratch against normalized Oracle transactional databases.
● Analyze business requirements and determine the appropriate tables, relationships, joins, and business rules needed to answer complex business questions.
● Extract, validate, transform, and analyze operational data for reporting, research, grants, and executive requests.
● Develop and maintain automated SQL processes, scheduled database jobs, and recurring data refreshes.
● Troubleshoot SQL scripts, automated jobs, and data quality issues.
● Create efficient, reusable, and well-documented SQL code.
● Support recurring operational reports, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), legislative reporting, and research initiatives.
● Collaborate with business users to understand reporting needs and communicate analytical findings.
● Support Tableau dashboards and other data visualization initiatives as needed.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Oracle/ PL SQL professional who enjoys working directly with transactional data, solving complex business problems, building efficient database solutions, and supporting enterprise reporting needs through robust SQL development and automation.
