Role Purpose / Summary Program Background: The Migration Borders Technology Portfolio (MBTP) has built and is continuously improving the platform service and functionality to transform the way the client manages immigration into the United Kingdom. The finished system is used by client staff based in the UK and in consulates across the globe, and by all applicants for Visa's, Passports or Immigration services. The delivery framework has multiple application developers collaborating to deliver software components which are integrated across the by the clients services. Multiple providers of commodity cloud services will provide hosting. The application developments will be delivered using an agile methodology in line with Government IT policy. Further detail on the MBTP programme and assumptions for the role are at the end of the document. The Candidate Should Have The Following Qualities And Experience Personal traits: The traits we are looking for are: Passion for technology Showing initiative and diligence Self-learning Being a team player, i.e. take ownership of contributing to the overall team capability and knowledge Experience Experience leading Agile delivery of platform teams Experience working with and supporting Critical National Infrastructure platforms Experience working and leading a team within a Service environment Strong customer facing experience working in Agile SCRUM methodology and the associated governance Leadership - taking accountability for the teams output and must have the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely both verbally and written to a range of audiences.? Must Have Technologies - The must have requirements centre around the base technology platforms that we build all our infrastructure): AWS Cloud Formation or Terraform Nginx Strong Linux administration skills Packer Collaboration tools (Git, Jira, Confluence, etc) Be SC Clearable Note for all contractors and the more senior permanent resource then the following become Must have's: Kubernetes (with Helm) Docker Hashicorp tools (Packer, Consul, Vault, etc) Jenkins Skills Working within an agile context with the use of CI (continuous improvement) Articulate a logical design, and understand how this translates to physical infrastructure Experience with defining and working with the constraint of NFRs such as cost, scalability, availability The must have skills will determine how well they will be able to integrate into our way of working and The principals we use when making strategic and long-term decisions Nice To Have Certificates - the following in priority order are beneficial: AWS Practitioner (AWS language and capability) AWS Solution architect Associate (AWS service detail) AWS CSA Pro DevOps Pro Kubernetes (CKA [kills, knowledge, and competency to perform the responsibilities of Kubernetes administrators], CKAD [design, build and deploy cloud-native applications for Kubernetes], CKS [Exam that tests candidates' knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud security in a simulated, real world environment.] RHCE [knowledge, skills, and ability required of administrators responsible for Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.] RHCA [skills and knowledge of RHCDS plus advanced networking services security, system monitoring, and performance tuning.] All profiles will be reviewed against the required skills and experience.
