Role description
Job Title: PLM Engineer Job Description This hands-on PLM Engineer role leads the implementation and rollout of Arena PLM as the system of record for product lifecycle management, engineering changes, and product data across autonomous vehicle hardware programs. You will own PLM system implementation and configuration, drive data migration from legacy PLM/PDM systems, and design robust BOM and change management workflows. The role also focuses on integrating PLM with ERP and engineering toolsets, ensuring traceability, configuration control, and successful adoption across engineering, IT, manufacturing, and supply chain teams. Responsibilities • Lead the end-to-end implementation of Arena PLM as the primary system of record for product lifecycle, engineering changes, and product data. • Configure PLM data models, including parts, bills of materials (BOMs), lifecycle states, and related structures to support hardware engineering programs. • Design, build, and optimize engineering change request (ECR) and engineering change order (ECO) workflows to support efficient change management. • Plan and execute data migration from legacy PLM/PDM systems such as Windchill and CAD vaults into Arena PLM, ensuring data integrity and completeness. • Perform data cleanup and standardization activities, including part numbering schemes, revision structures, and metadata normalization. • Map legacy PLM/PDM data models and processes into Arena PLM to enable a smooth transition and minimize disruption to engineering teams. • Drive cross-functional integration by partnering closely with Engineering, IT, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to align PLM processes and requirements. • Support and coordinate PLM to ERP alignment and integrations with systems such as NetSuite, SAP, and other enterprise applications. • Own PLM system governance, including naming conventions, access controls, lifecycle schemas, and overall configuration standards. • Ensure end-to-end traceability and configuration control across product data, engineering changes, and released configurations. • Develop and deliver end-user training, documentation, and best-practice guides to enable successful adoption of Arena PLM. • Provide ongoing support to engineering and cross-functional teams by troubleshooting PLM workflows, resolving issues, and improving user experience. • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for workflow optimization, automation, and continuous improvement within the PLM environment. • Support integrations with CAD systems and engineering toolsets to streamline design data management and change processes. • Contribute to long-term PLM roadmap and transformation initiatives, ensuring scalability and alignment with hardware program needs. Essential Skills • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in PLM Engineering, PLM Administration, or Engineering Systems roles. • Hands-on experience with at least one PLM platform, such as Arena PLM, Windchill, Teamcenter, or ENOVIA. • Strong knowledge of BOM management and the ability to structure and maintain complex bills of materials for hardware products. • Deep understanding of engineering change processes, including ECR and ECO workflows and approvals. • Solid grasp of product lifecycle data structures, including parts, revisions, lifecycle states, and related metadata. • Proven experience leading PLM implementations or major system migrations in an engineering or manufacturing environment. • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, IT, manufacturing, and supply chain stakeholders. • Practical experience configuring PLM systems, including data models, workflows, access controls, and governance frameworks. • Proficiency with PLM concepts and tools related to CAD data management and integration with engineering toolsets. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with Arena PLM specifically, including configuration, customization, and rollout. • Experience working with CAD systems such as SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA in conjunction with PLM. • Experience integrating PLM with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or similar enterprise platforms. • Exposure to industries such as robotics, autonomous vehicles, automotive, or advanced manufacturing. • Experience with data migration projects, including planning, mapping, validation, and cleanup. • Familiarity with workflow optimization techniques and continuous improvement of PLM processes. • Experience with API and integration tools such as Boomi or similar middleware platforms. • Strong communication skills to train users, document processes, and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams. • Interest in long-term career growth with potential to convert to a direct employment opportunity. Work Environment This role is primarily on-site, providing close collaboration with engineering, IT, manufacturing, and supply chain teams working on autonomous vehicle hardware programs. There is flexibility for remote work when needed, allowing for a hybrid style of engagement as projects and schedules require. You will work with Arena PLM and other PLM platforms, CAD systems such as SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA, and enterprise systems including ERP platforms like NetSuite and SAP. The environment emphasizes cross-functional teamwork, hands-on problem-solving, and continuous improvement of PLM processes and integrations, offering the potential to transition into a direct employee role for those seeking long-term opportunities.
