Power BI Consultant

We respectfully request that 3rd parties refrain from contacting us regarding this posting. Overview LABUR is partnering with a client to bring on a Power BI Consultant for a contract engagement. The client is in the midst of a Databricks migration and has encountered issues with Power BI reports that function locally but fail once deployed to the Power BI service. Beyond resolving these immediate connectivity problems, the client needs an expert to assess and standardize their reporting infrastructure, including gateways, data connections, and tenant configuration, and to document a repeatable process that empowers their internal teams going forward. This role is fully remote. Responsibilities • Audit the current reporting environment, including gateway configuration, data connections, and Power BI service tenant settings, to identify inconsistencies and failure points • Diagnose and resolve deployment and connectivity issues affecting paginated reports published to the Power BI service • Design and recommend a standardized gateway and connectivity architecture aligned with Power BI best practices • Develop a clear, detailed runbook for the client's internal help desk and support teams to follow when onboarding new reports or troubleshooting connection failures • Advise on user access strategy, licensing models, and guest or external user configuration within Power BI • Collaborate with the team leading the Databricks migration to ensure cloud reporting connections are properly configured and sustainable Qualifications • Deep hands-on expertise with the Power BI service, including workspace management, tenant administration, and gateway configuration • Proven experience migrating SSRS paginated reports to Power BI and resolving post-migration connectivity issues • Strong understanding of on-premises and cloud data gateway architecture, data source bindings, and connection troubleshooting • Experience establishing secure, reliable connections between Power BI and Databricks (clusters or SQL warehouses) • Ability to deliver both high-level architecture guidance and practical, documented implementation standards • Proficiency with Power BI Report Builder for paginated report development and publishing Compensation $70 - $90 per hour - Dependent on fit and experience.
