Power BI Consultant – 6‑Month Contract (Likely to Extend) – Outside IR35
Location: Central London (2–3 days per week onsite)
Engagement: Outside IR35
Duration: 6 months, with strong likelihood of extending a further 6
About the Role
A leading organisation in the oil & gas trading sector is seeking a highly skilled Power BI Consultant to support increased workload across their analytics function. This role is focused on strengthening reporting capability, improving data models, and acting as a key conduit between London‑based business stakeholders and an engineering team in India.
This is not a project‑specific hire it’s about bolstering day‑to‑day analytics delivery, improving reporting standards, and providing senior‑level BI expertise where needed.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Develop, enhance, and optimise Power BI dashboards and analytics assets.
• Lead the creation and refinement of data models to support accurate, scalable reporting.
• Partner with business users to understand requirements and guide them on best‑practice BI solutions.
• Work closely with offshore developers, translating business needs into clear technical direction.
• Provide senior technical oversight and ensure high‑quality delivery across all reporting outputs.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements across the analytics ecosystem.
Required Skills
Technical Expertise (Mandatory):
• Power BI expert-level capability, including data modelling, DAX, and dashboard design
• Strong SQL
• Python for data processing/automation
• Databricks and PySpark experience
• Solid understanding of modern data architectures and analytics workflows
Professional Skills:
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-facing skills
• Ability to act as a bridge between business and offshore dev teams
• Senior mindset: confident leading, guiding, and setting standards
• Strong problem-solving and analytical approach
