Role description
Hello,
Position: Data Visualization Consultant
Location: Annapolis, MD (Remote)
This position is with State, Client & can work on C2C/W2.
Scope/Background: Create five Power BI data-visualization dashboards for the Office of Problem-Solving Courts datasets; migrate from existing Excel/Tableau structures; ensure RLS, optimized models/DAX, ETL guidance, documentation, and user training.
The Candidate shall be responsible for the following:
β’ Providing professional creative and user experience (UX) design services for Power BI reports and dashboards that ensure clarity, accessibility, and ease of use for the intended audiences.
β’ Advising on design and analytic approaches that maximize dashboard effectiveness, including suggestions for visualizations, interaction patterns, filtering, and performance optimization.
β’ Demonstrating an understanding of underlying datasets and analytic requirements to create dashboard design and data modeling.
β’ Modifying and preparing existing ADC, FTC, and Procedural Justice datasets for use in Power BI.
β’ Ensuring data models are updatable as new data is received, including recommending minimal, repeatable extract, transform, load (ETL) steps and deliverable file formats (CSV/Excel/semantic model).
β’ Creating efficient data models and optimized Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) measures as needed to ensure responsive performance for Judiciary user interactions.
β’ Implementing role-based access control through username-based row-level security (RLS) to restrict data exposure to authorized users only.
β’ Technical documentation detailing the data model, ETL/transform steps, DAX measures used, and RLS configuration.
1. The five (5) dashboards shall consist of the following reports and criteria:
a. ADC Coordinator Report
Interactive dashboard, program-level dashboard for use by individual ADC coordinators and designated Judiciary PSC team members (internal use only). The report must support drilldown by program, research component, and other dimensions. Username-based RLS will be required.
b. ADC Statewide/Oversight Report
Interactive statewide dashboard that compares percent adherence across individual programs, program managers, research components, and geographic locations. Username-based RLS will be required.
c. FTC Coordinator Report
Interactive dashboard, program-level dashboard for use by individual FTC coordinators and designated Judiciary PSC team members (internal use only). Username-based RLS will be required.
d. FTC Statewide/Oversight Report
Interactive statewide dashboard comparing percent adherence by program, program manager, practice level, research standard, and geographic location. Username-based RLS will be required.
e. Procedural Justice Survey Results Report
Interactive dashboard that aggregates bi-annual PSC participant survey results and visualizes perceptions of procedural fairness across programs, team members, and demographic groups. Username-based RLS will be required.
