Role description
Position: Power BI Data Engineer Openings: 1 Duration: 3-6 month contract to hire Location: Warrenville, IL. 2 days on-site/week Pay Rate: $65/hr - $73/hr Ideal Start Date: Jan 5 Interview Process: 2 rounds (1 virtual 30 minute Teams, 1 on-site) Must Haves: β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field β€’ 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Power BI Developer or SQL Developer β€’ 3+ years of experience with Power BI (report/dashboard development) β€’ 1 year at least Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric β€’ Proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, and Power Query β€’ Strong understanding of T-SQL programming, ETL processes, and Microsoft SQL Server β€’ Experience with structured (SQL) and/or unstructured (NoSQL) data β€’ In-depth knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Service Bus β€’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills β€’ Excellent verbal and written communication skills β€’ Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships beyond IT team Plusses: β€’ Fabric certification β€’ Experience with Azure Data Factory or Azure Data Lake β€’ Exposure to Medallion Data Architecture principles β€’ Experience with DevOps CI/CD processes β€’ Familiarity with data governance and compliance best practices β€’ Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Day to Day: The candidate will manage and optimize the Power BI reporting environment, design and maintain dashboards, and ensure data accuracy and integrity. They will build data pipelines using Databricks/Azure tools, automate data ingestion, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights. Responsibilities include troubleshooting user issues, performance optimization, enforcing governance standards, and maintaining documentation. Responsibilities: β€’ Design, create, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards β€’ Build and optimize data processing pipelines using Databricks/Azure ecosystem β€’ Manage data sources, models, and refresh schedules β€’ Provide end-user support and training β€’ Monitor and optimize report performance β€’ Collaborate with teams to gather requirements and implement solutions β€’ Enforce data governance and security best practices β€’ Create and maintain documentation for reports and data sources Compensation: $65/hr to $73/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
