Role description
About The Role We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to join our Planning Team and play a key role in delivering the University’s reporting and business intelligence roadmap. This is a delivery-focused, fixed-term (12 Months) role aimed at accelerating the development of a pipeline of high-quality Power BI reports and dashboards. You will be instrumental in transitioning the University from legacy reporting tools to a modern, scalable Power BI environment, aligned to our BU2035 Institutional Insight and Analytics Programme. This Is An Exciting Opportunity For a Highly Skilled Power BI Developer To Hit The Ground Running And Take Ownership Of a Portfolio Of Reporting Developments. You Will β€’ Design and deliver high-quality Power BI dashboards and reports for a wide range of stakeholders. β€’ Lead the redevelopment and enhancement of existing reports, ensuring outputs are modern, user-focused and insight-driven. β€’ Build and optimise data models and semantic layers to support robust and scalable reporting. β€’ Work closely with stakeholders to understand, challenge and refine reporting requirements. β€’ Support the development of a best practice Power BI environment, including performance, governance and usability. β€’ Explore opportunities to enhance reporting through Microsoft 365 tools, including Power Automate. About You We are looking for someone with significant hands-on experience in Power BI development who can quickly add value and deliver at pace. You will have: β€’ Proven experience developing Power BI reports, dashboards and data models. β€’ Strong skills in DAX and data modelling best practice. β€’ Experience working with SQL and complex datasets. β€’ A track record of translating stakeholder requirements into effective reporting solutions. β€’ The ability to work independently and manage a pipeline of developments. β€’ Strong communication skills and confidence working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience of migrating from tools such as QlikView and working with Power BI Service or Power Automate would be advantageous. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in a high-impact programme of work, shaping how data is used across the University to support decision making. As a fixed-term position, this role is ideally suited to an experienced developer who enjoys delivering tangible outputs, solving problems and making an immediate impact.
