Power BI developer Location: Madison, WI Wisconsin Residents only Top Skills & Years of Experience: ยท Expert knowledge and use of SQL (4-5+ years) ยท Expert knowledge and experience creating Power BI reports in a Fabric environment (data modelling, data visualization, DAX, source control) (4-5+ years) ยท Experience working in a Agile/Scrum environment in a cross-functional team (able to work well in a team, but also highly self-motivated and solid communication skills) (2-3+ years) ยท Experience in data preparation and data warehousing projects (4-5+ years) Nice to Have: ยท Experience with K-12 education data sector ยท Knowledge and use of Microsoft SSIS or similar Microsoft BI stack tools (SSRS, SSAS) ยท Familiarity with scripting and programming ยท Experience building accessible (WCAG 2.1 AA) Power BI reports Job Description: This position is responsible for providing technical expertise and services regarding Power BI and Fabric report maintenance, creation, and SQL query development for the Department, including providing detailed testing for work of others on the team. Reports would include but not be limited to data collected through enterprise applications such as the WISEid, WISEdata, the Wisconsin State Assessment System, and data reported in WISEdash. The position may also be responsible for fulfilling other state and federal data reporting requirements. The person in this position is responsible for peer testing of the work of their teammates including other ETL developers and dashboard developers. Objectives, priorities, and deadlines are established in consultation with the user, director and division leadership and discussed biweekly during Agile/Scrum sprint retrospective and planning sessions. Example tasks: โ€ข Create new Power BI reports for internal or external use. โ€ข Amend existing Power BI reports, including SQL queries, visuals or DAX. โ€ข Fulfill adhoc data requests from external or internal requesters. โ€ข Peer testing of ETL tables, data views, Power BI reports, SQL queries, test scripts, etc. โ€ข Provide recommendations and solutions for the creation of new reporting solutions. โ€ข Support and troubleshoot scheduled Power BI Service report updates. โ€ข Gather and analyze end user requirements for new or existing reports. โ€ข Complete functional & technical specifications to load data from disparate source systems into Power BI in instances where the data does not belong in the data warehouse. โ€ข Experience working with scrum methodologies and agile practices โ€ข Work with MS SQL Server 2019+ and Power BI in a premium Fabric environment โ€ข Create operational processes including test cases & user documentation โ€ข Using TFS (Visual Studio/Azure Dev Ops) and Git for source code control โ€ข Experience using Sharepoint for project related document sharing and team collaboration. โ€ข Create Change Management tickets as required. โ€ข Willingness to learn new technologies that will assist the team. โ€ข Other duties as assigned relating to the data warehouse project.
