Role description
About Us
Prism PPM is a leading Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software company helping organizations deliver complex projects with speed and precision. As part of our growth, we seek a skilled Power BI Developer to join our product and engineering teams, driving our reporting and analytics capabilities to the next level.
Role Overview
You will be the primary Power BI authority, embedded within the product team and reporting directly to the Head of Product. Unlike legacy reporting roles, this position demands holistic thinking at the data model level, structuring interlinked datasets, and designing reports that deliver insight and impact. You will bring both technical rigor and visual finesse, turning raw data into compelling stories that support better decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
• Build and maintain sophisticated Power BI dashboards and reports tailored to customer needs, reflecting strong narrative design principles.
• Develop and manage embedded Power BI analytics solutions within our proprietary PPM software platform.
• Architect and implement semantic data models in Power BI, integrating with Databricks and ensuring logical taxonomy for all datasets.
• Write advanced PowerQuery scripts and DAX calculations for complex data transformation and analytics scenarios as needed.
• Conduct thorough data QA, validating key metrics between our PPM platform, Databricks, and Power BI outputs.
• Leverage SQL to extract, transform, and validate data. Understanding our integrations between Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Azure Databricks, and Power BI.
• Optimize dashboard performance with a deep understanding of Import mode vs. Direct Query trade‑offs.
• Power BI workspace management, external user access, and governance best practices for secure reporting.
• Collaborate in an Azure cloud environment with engineers and architects to ensure smooth data delivery pipelines.
Preferred Skills & Experience
• Proven ability to blend technical data modeling expertise with sharp visual storytelling instincts.
• Experience in PPM or project management software reporting environments.
• Familiarity with Databricks Delta Sharing and cross‑organization data collaboration.
• Success in working independently with minimal supervision in high‑autonomy roles.
• Strong cross‑functional communication skills, fluent in English.
• Previous experience collaborating with remote/offshore technical teams.
Qualifications
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Power BI, including PowerQuery, DAX, and semantic modeling.
• Direct experience building Embedded Analytics solutions and managing advanced workspace functionality.
• Proficient in SQL and comfortable moving data across cloud platforms (OCI, Databricks, Azure).
• Demonstrated success in conducting data QA and optimizing report performance.
• Solid understanding of Import mode, Direct Query, workspace management, and governance protocols in Power BI.
Contract Position: This is estimated to be a 6-month contract. Candidates must be self-driven and capable of creating clarity and structure in their work without intensive oversight.
