Role description
Position: PowerBI Developer
Location: New York City or Warren, NJ
Duration: 12 month W2 contract plus extensions and potential direct hire
Pay: 60-80 hr on W2
Required Skills & Experience:
• 2-3 years of experience in Power BI/Business Intelligence development
• Experience in financial services (IB, Capital Markets, M&A preferred)
• Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
• Exposure to Azure data stack and Databricks
• Advanced experience with DAX and Power Query
• Solid experience with SQL and data modeling (star/snowflake schemas)
• Experience working with large datasets and performance optimization
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with business stakeholders

Insight Global is seeking a Power BI Developer to support an enterprise analytics initiative at a leading investment bank in NYC or Warren, NJ. This role will focus on building scalable dashboards, developing robust data models, and supporting business-critical reporting across front-office and corporate functions. The ideal candidate has strong Power BI development experience, advanced data modeling and DAX capabilities, and experience working with large-scale datasets in a financial services environment. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days a week onsite
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for business stakeholders
• Build and optimize data models (star schema, dimensional modeling)
• Write and enhance advanced DAX calculations for complex reporting logic
• Connect and integrate data from multiple sources (Azure, SQL, Databricks, etc.)
• Design and maintain Power BI datasets and semantic models
• Optimize report and dataset performance (query tuning, incremental refresh, partitioning)
• Implement data transformations using Power Query and ETL pipelines
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability across reporting layers
• Partner with business users to define KPIs and reporting requirements
• Support governance, security, and access controls
