Role description
Title: PowerBI Developer Location: Middletown, CT 06457 Remote / Hybrid Schedule: hybrid – 2 days/week on site (Mondays + Wednesdays) Hours | shift | On Call | Time zone: First shift, EST Team: Application Development Team Size: ~25 Why Open: Moving SSRS Reports to PowerBI Eligibility: USC, GC, GC\_EAD, OPT-EAD H4-EAD & L2S only Duration: 1 year Suggested Pay Rate: $50-$55/hr. on W2 Interview Process: 1 round in person interview References Required upon Submittal: 1 Professional reference (Name, Title, Company, Email, LI, Phone) Must haves: β€’ PowerBI Development 3+ years β€’ SSRS development β€’ Modify changes, work with SSRS reports directly, support + maintain SSRS with PowerBI development β€’ Enterprise Data Warehousing experience β€’ Passionate about complex data structures and problem solving β€’ Ability to pick up new data tools and concepts quickly β€’ Experience in data analysis including structuring data for analysis within Power B β€’ Experience with data modeling, including designing data models within Power BI β€’ Experience using Power BI, including creating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations from scratch β€’ Experience with setting up infrastructure, security, and user management on a Power BI Server β€’ Experience utilizing data security principles including implementing role-level and data-level security in Power BI to control data access β€’ Experience communicating with stakeholders to explain insights derived from data using presentations and trainings β€’ Experience with moderate to complex SSRS reports, Power BI reports, and Data Visualization Dashboards β€’ Local to CT and able to come on site to Middletown Mondays + Fridays Nice to haves: β€’ Tableau experience β€’ Experience developing Reports using Transact Structured Query Language (T-SQL). β€’ Writing ad-hoc SQL queries to support the operational needs of the agency. Req Qualification Notes: β€’ Looking for a local strong PowerBI Developer β€’ Some admin, mostly development β€’ How to set up user groups, add privileges β€’ BUT doesn’t need them setting up servers, has people doing that already β€’ SSRS heavy and some ETL β€’ Moving from Tableau + SSRS reports to PowerBI on prem β€’ while also developing new reports in SSRS + PowerBI β€’ Has SSRS reports (hundreds) β€’ This role is purely long-term goal to get rid of SSRS problems β€’ Support + Maintain SSRS while creating new reports in either SSRS/PowerBI β€’ Has built a lot of SSRS reports which aren’t required - wants to move into PowerBI and when new requirements come, work with business & communicate to understand what they’re looking at β€’ Give them options β€’ Wants this person to be able to explain β€’ This isn’t an SSRS type of report it’s a PowerBI type of report β€’ Then start building them and come up with ideas β€’ Building a lot of public facing/internal dashboards Other: β€’ DMHAS PowerBI is on prem β€’ DMHAS is not moving it to cloud ever β€’ PowerBI comes with multiple levels of security β€’ Viraj built PowerBI architecture layer β€’ Knows how it should work β€’ For every piece of data – they can find out who used it/who built it etc. β€’ Understanding data/data security is very important
