Role description
Position: BI Technical Lead
Location: Houston, TX (hybrid only local)
Domain: Utility domain
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced BI Technical Lead to own the Customer & Corporate Analytics track within Data & AI Managed Services engagement at a major U.S. electric and gas utility. This individual will serve as the primary interface between the client's Customer & Corporate Analytics team — covering Marketing, HR, Finance, Regulatory, and Customer Service domains — and Cognizant's offshore delivery center. The role requires leading the delivery of analytics solutions, managing a HANA-to-GCP dashboard migration, and supporting the client's customer experience transformation including a contact center platform migration.
The ideal candidate combines deep BI and analytics expertise with strong knowledge of customer operations, contact center analytics, and corporate reporting in a regulated utility environment.

Minimum 15 years as a BI Developer and Technical Lead with progressive leadership responsibility in analytics engagements
BI & Analytics Platforms
Expert-level proficiency in Tableau and Power BI (development, administration, performance optimization). Experience with Looker is a plus.
Data Engineering
Strong working knowledge of GCP BigQuery, SQL, data modeling, semantic layer design, and ETL/ELT pipelines (Airflow, Cloud Run, DataFlow)
Utility Domain
Electric utility industry experience required — grid operations, asset management, reliability analytics, outage management, regulatory compliance (NERC/PUCT), storm response, crew productivity, and distribution power delivery
Data Governance
Familiarity with data catalog tools (e.g., Atlan), data observability platforms (e.g., Monte Carlo), metadata management, and data quality frameworks
Delivery Model
Proven experience managing onshore-offshore delivery models with globally distributed teams. Experience with Agile/Scrum, Kanban, and sprint-based delivery.
Stakeholder Management
Demonstrated ability to work with senior business leaders and IT architects to define product vision, manage priorities, and deliver business value
