Role description

Join the Mayor’s Office for Policing And Crime (MOPAC) as a Power BI Officer, where you will play a crucial role in conducting analytics into crime, criminal justice, and policing for London. This position is integral to supporting the Mayor of  London in his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London by contributing to the achievement of the priorities set out in the Mayor’s Police and Crime Plan.

   • Location: Southwark/London Bridge

   • Job Type: Full-time, 36 hours per week, hybrid work (only 1 day per month based at the office)

   • Duration: 6 months (possibility of further extensions)

   • Pay rate: £27.09 per hour via PAYE or £35.27 per hour via Umbrella Day-to-day of the role:

   • Conduct and quality assure complex quantitative data analysis, including big data analysis, statistical modelling, and thematic analysis.

   • Develop and maintain performance analysis and reporting products, such as data dashboards, to enable MOPAC to discharge its statutory duties for public accountability across crime and policing in London.

   • Write reports and conduct presentations to communicate findings and insights effectively.

   • Manage projects, assess risks, and oversee line management responsibilities including developing staff and performance management.

   • Work closely with colleagues across MOPAC and the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) to monitor performance against commitments in the Police and Crime Plan and highlight key areas for MOPAC action.

   • Contribute to national debates on crime and policing performance management and police customer service, and assist in the development of national policy on crime and policing through the provision of evidence. Required Skills & Qualifications:

   • Proven experience in data analysis and performance reporting, preferably within a public sector or policing context.

   • Strong proficiency in Power BI and other data visualization tools.

   • Excellent statistical and analytical skills, with experience in handling large datasets.

   • Strong project management skills and experience in managing teams.

   • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex information in an understandable manner.

   • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong commitment to public service.
