Role description
OverviewWe are seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer to lead the design and development of next-generation AI-driven solutions for insurance carrier integration. This role will play a critical part in shaping our core platform capabilities—leveraging artificial intelligence to accelerate carrier connectivity, streamline quoting and underwriting workflows, and drive automation across the commercial insurance distribution ecosystem.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in enterprise system integrations, AI/ML technologies, and scalable SaaS architectures, combined with hands-on leadership experience guiding engineering teams through complex technical initiatives.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable AI and machine learning models using frameworks like TensorFlow, Spark MLlib, and other tools.
Architect and implement big data solutions utilizing Hadoop, Spark, ETL processes, and database design principles to manage large-scale datasets efficiently.
Develop and optimize data pipelines for data mining, natural language processing, and analytics applications using tools such as Talend, SAS, and SQL.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning models into production environments with a focus on model training and deployment.
Drive innovation by researching emerging technologies in quantum engineering, linked data, and AI to enhance existing systems.
Mentor junior engineers on best practices in software development, data engineering, and machine learning techniques.
Ensure robust system security, scalability, and performance across all projects leveraging cloud services like AWS.
Contribute to technical documentation and participate in code reviews to maintain high-quality standards.
Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in a senior/principal role.
Technical Expertise
Proficiency in Node.js/TypeScript (Python experience a plus).
Strong knowledge of REST/SOAP APIs, event-driven systems, and microservices.
Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines, LLMs, and vector databases (e.g., MongoDB Atlas Vector Search, Pinecone, Redis).
Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
Domain Knowledge: Strong background in insurance carrier integrations, ACORD standards, or related InsurTech systems.
