Principal Data Engineer

Immediate need for a talented Principal Data Engineer. This is a 12 months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Smithfield, RI (Hybrid). Key Responsibilities: • Passion and intellectually curiosity to learn new technologies and business areas • Exploring new technology products and using them to help our business needs • Working on teams to improve efficiency • Delivering system automation by setting up continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines Key Requirements and Technology Experience: • Key Skills; ETL • SQL • Snowflake • AWS • Salesforce • Oracle • Python • Data Sources & Movement • Data resides in: • Salesforce • Snowflake • Data movement includes: • Salesforce → Salesforce • Salesforce → Snowflake • Salesforce → Oracle • Data Engineering & Processing • ETL and ELT processes • SQL for data analysis • Snowflake (at least data lake experience) • AWS (deploy on cloud, S3) • Python for scripting and automation • Python and Java (Spring Batch) for ETL work • Some ETL jobs are done in Python • Others are done in Java • Spring Framework • Salesforce data files and CSV handling • REST APIs experience • Java Spring (how to build and maintain) • Kafka • Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in a technology related field (e.g. Engineering,Computer Science, etc.) required with 10 years of experience • 6 years of experience in Data Warehousing, Data mart concepts &implementations • 4 years of experience developing ELT/ETL pipelines to move data to and from Snowflake data store • 4 years of experience using AWS services such as EC2, IAM, S3, EKS, KMS,SMS, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, etc. • 4 years of experience in object-oriented programming languages (Strong programming skills required in Python or Java) • Your passion for Data Analysis with the ability to navigate and master complex transactional and warehouse databases • Hands-on experience on SQL query optimisation and performance tuning is preferred • Experience in job scheduling tools (Control-M preferred) • Advanced SQL/Snow SQL knowledge is preferred • Strong data modeling skills doing either Dimensional or Data Vault models • Experience in Container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes • Experience with DevOps, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (Maven, Jenkins, Stash, Ansible, Docker) • Experience in Agile methodologies (Kanban and SCRUM) is a plus • Proven track record to handle ambiguity and work in a fast-paced environment • Good interpersonal skills to work with multiple teams in the organization Our client is a leading Financial Industry and we are currently interviewing to fill this and other similar contract positions.
