Role description
Job Title: Principal Data Modeler Location: Merrimack NH, Smithfield RI or Westlake TX (Hybrid – 2 weeks onsite, 2 weeks remote) Duration: Long term Contract with possibility of Conversion Interview: 1 round with Manager and Developer (Behavioral/Technical) Key Skills & Requirements: • Hands-on experience with OLTP (online transaction processing) data modeling. • Proficient with data modeling tools like PowerDesigner or Erwin. • Strong RDBMS experience (Oracle, Postgres mandatory; CockroachDB preferred). • Experience with NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB, Aerospike). • Advanced SQL skills for data analysis and querying. • Experience in Agile environments. • Knowledge of DB2 z/OS is a plus (legacy system they are moving away from). Responsibilities: • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models. • Collaborate with business and technical teams. • Promote enterprise standards and best practices in data modeling. • Deliver robust, scalable data models that support evolving business needs. • Participate in POCs and greenfield projects related to modernization. What is the Project? FIBSI Modernization Project: • Moving away from DB2 mainframe systems to modern cloud-based applications and databases. • Operational databases will use CockroachDB, Oracle, or Postgres. • Analytical platforms will be built on Snowflake to support the core brokerage system. Two major components: 1. Business as usual — support existing designed builds. 1. Proof of Concept (POC) — experiment with new tech and platforms to drive future modernization.
