Role description
We are seeking an experienced Principal Data & Solutions Architect to lead the architecture and modernization of the Revenue Data Management Platform (RDMP) within the Data & Intelligence organization. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Solution Architecture, Data Architecture, Azure Platform, Azure DevOps, Pipeline Design, Cloud Computing, Data Processing, Apache Spark, Databricks, and Enterprise Data Platforms. This role will serve as the primary technical architecture owner responsible for designing and implementing a governed Databricks Lakehouse Platform supporting enterprise Revenue Data, Finance Data Intelligence, Reporting, Reconciliation, and Analytics initiatives. The Principal Architect will partner with Revenue, Finance, FP&A, Data & Intelligence teams, and business stakeholders to modernize legacy workflows, establish secure and compliant data infrastructure, enable advanced analytics, and deliver scalable enterprise data products. Key Responsibilities Platform Architecture • Design and own end-to-end Revenue Data Platform architecture using Databricks Lakehouse, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Databricks Workflows. • Define and implement Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) for enterprise data products. • Drive architecture decisions across data platforms, cloud infrastructure, integration patterns, and reporting solutions. Data Platform Modernization • Lead migration of legacy workflows including Alteryx, spreadsheets, and traditional ETL processes into modern cloud-based data platforms. • Design scalable data pipelines, transformation frameworks, and automation solutions. • Convert complex finance and revenue transformation logic into governed, testable, version-controlled data models. Data Engineering & Processing • Design and implement data ingestion pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF). • Develop scalable data processing solutions using Apache Spark, Python, SQL, and Databricks. • Build and optimize enterprise data models supporting billing revenue, usage revenue, deferred revenue, reconciliation, and reporting. • Define data quality frameworks, testing strategies, data contracts, and governance processes. Cloud & DevOps Architecture • Design and implement solutions leveraging Azure Cloud Platform. • Develop and manage CI/CD workflows using Azure DevOps. • Define pipeline design, deployment automation, release processes, and infrastructure governance. • Ensure secure, scalable, and highly available cloud data solutions. Security, Governance & Compliance • Architect SOX-compliant and audit-ready data platforms. • Implement access controls, security policies, data lineage, and governance frameworks. • Establish row-level security, column-level security, segregation of duties, and traceability across data assets. Reporting & Analytics Enablement • Architect governed semantic layers supporting Power BI and Tableau reporting platforms. • Enable trusted reporting datasets for Finance, FP&A, reconciliation, and executive dashboards. • Ensure reporting solutions are certified, governed, and compliant. AI/ML Enablement • Enable AI and ML capabilities using Databricks MLflow, AutoML, and advanced analytics solutions. • Support predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and intelligent revenue insights. Stakeholder Management & Leadership • Translate business requirements into enterprise architecture solutions. • Lead architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical presentations. • Mentor engineering teams on Databricks, Azure, Spark, Data Engineering, and architecture best practices. • Establish architecture standards, reusable frameworks, and technology best practices. Required Skills • 12+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or Data Engineering. • Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks Workflows, SQL, and Python. • Extensive experience designing enterprise data platforms and cloud-based solutions. • Strong knowledge of Azure Platform, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure DevOps, and Entra ID. • Strong expertise in Solution Architecture, Architecture Design, Pipeline Design, and Cloud Computing. • Hands-on experience with Apache Spark and large-scale data processing. • Experience building and optimizing data pipelines and ETL/ELT frameworks. • Strong SQL and Python programming skills for data transformation and engineering. • Experience with dbt, data modeling, testing frameworks, and CI/CD integration. • Experience designing SOX-compliant, secure, governed, and audit-ready data platforms. • Experience modernizing legacy data tools such as Alteryx, SSIS, Informatica, and spreadsheet-based processes. • Strong communication skills with technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership. Preferred Skills • Experience in Revenue Data Management, Billing Systems, Revenue Recognition, Deferred Revenue, and Financial Reporting. • Databricks certifications such as Databricks Data Engineer or Spark Developer Certification. • Experience with MLflow, AutoML, and AI/ML analytics use cases. • Experience designing Power BI/Tableau semantic layers and governed reporting datasets. • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitLab. • Experience with enterprise data governance, security, and compliance frameworks. • Exposure to natural language analytics tools such as Databricks Genie.
