Role description
Job#: 3036465 Job Description: Seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Principal Architect to lead the end-to-end design, implementation, and ongoing ownership of the organization's enterprise data warehouse and analytics platform — with Snowflake as the core platform. This role will be responsible for managing technical scope, data strategy, data ingestion architecture, delivery roadmap, and partnering with stakeholders on reporting and analytics consumption needs. Phase one will focus on commercial readiness: enabling rapid, trusted integration from key enterprise systems and external data sources and delivering scalable reporting and operational analytics. This serves as the foundation for a multi-year expansion of enterprise analytics across additional business functions. The Principal Architect will initially be a sole contributor, leading external consultants and implementation partners while working closely with the IT platform team, cybersecurity, business and technical analysts, business leadership, and executives. This role reports to the Senior Director, Business Systems. Responsibilities Snowflake Platform Implementation & Leadership • Lead the full lifecycle implementation of Snowflake as the enterprise data warehouse platform, from architecture design and environment setup through production deployment and ongoing operations. • Design and build a right-sized data ingestion solution tailored to Immunome's current needs and future scale, including appropriate tooling selection, pipeline architecture, and ELT/ETL patterns for both batch and streaming data sources. • Define Snowflake environment standards including database/schema design, virtual warehouse sizing, resource monitoring, cost optimization, and access control frameworks. • Architect and implement staging, raw vault, and consumption layers to support trusted, accurate analytics across business functions. • Establish production operating practices including monitoring, alerting, data observability, performance tuning, and SLAs for data availability and quality. Cross-Domain Collaboration & Delivery • Lead cross-functional working sessions to define priorities, clarify requirements, resolve tradeoffs, and drive timely decisions across stakeholders. • Lead external consultants, system integrators, and vendors by defining scope, setting deliverables, reviewing work products, and ensuring solutions meet architectural standards and business outcomes. • Define and evolve the data platform operating model, including support processes, documentation standards, and a scaling plan for additional capabilities, internal roles, and partner support as adoption grows. Reporting & Analytics Solution Design • Collaborate directly with business and technical users to gather, clarify, and prioritize reporting and data analytics requirements, translating needs into scalable, reusable data models and reporting-layer solutions. • Define and build semantic, logical, and physical data models to support self-service analytics, standard dashboards, and operational workflows. • Partner with analytics and BI teams to ensure the data platform supports analytical tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar) and delivers consistent, trusted metrics. • Architect systems that support analytical, operational, and regulatory workloads using both batch and real-time data patterns. • Define and implement scalable metric definitions and KPI frameworks to support commercial and enterprise reporting requirements. Data Ingestion Architecture • Evaluate, select, and implement the right-sized data ingestion solution for Immunome — balancing capability, cost, and operational complexity against current and projected data volumes and source system diversity. • Design and build ingestion pipelines from key enterprise systems (CRM, ERP, LIMS, external data feeds, etc.), ensuring data reliability, lineage, and auditability. • Define standards for data ingestion tooling, configuration management, error handling, retry logic, and schema evolution to support long-term platform maintainability. • Ensure ingestion architecture supports incremental loads, CDC (change data capture), and real-time patterns where appropriate. Enterprise & Solution Architecture • Define and maintain the enterprise data architecture roadmap aligned with business and technology strategy. • Develop reference architectures, design patterns, and reusable components for data ingestion, transformation, modeling, and analytics. • Define enterprise standards and governance frameworks across data assets and platform components. Master Data Management & Data Governance • Define and support master and reference data strategies to ensure consistency of critical enterprise data. • Embed data quality, metadata, and lineage considerations into all architectural designs. • Partner with governance and stewardship functions to enforce data ownership, classification, and privacy controls. AI / Advanced Analytics Enablement • Architect data environments that are analytics- and AI-ready, supporting feature engineering, reproducibility, and trustworthy downstream consumption. • Partner with analytics and data science teams to ensure architectural alignment with advanced analytics and ML use cases. Required Qualifications • 10+ years of experience in data warehouse architecture, development, or design. • Hands-on experience implementing and operating Snowflake in a production environment, including environment setup, data modeling, virtual warehouse management, and cost governance. • Demonstrated experience designing and building data ingestion pipelines - including tool selection, pipeline architecture, and integration with enterprise source systems. • Proven ability to work directly with business and technical users to gather reporting and analytics requirements and deliver trusted, scalable data solutions. • Expertise in data architecture, dimensional and vault modeling, and analytics system design. • Strong understanding of batch vs. real-time data patterns and distributed data processing concepts. • Demonstrated success implementing and/or owning production data platforms as a senior individual contributor. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and align technical and business stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications • Snowflake certifications (e.g., SnowPro Core, SnowPro Advanced: Data Engineer or Architect). • Experience with modern data ingestion and transformation tools such as Fivetran, Airbyte, dbt, Matillion, or equivalent. • Experience designing enterprise-wide data architecture standards and governance frameworks. • Experience with ML and AI for training system models and/or mastering unstructured data, as well as some potential advanced analytics use cases. • Experience designing data platforms that support audit readiness, privacy controls, and regulated requirements such as FDA GxP and 21 CFR Part 11, as well as supporting internal controls expectations for public company environments. • Experience in biotech, life sciences, or pharmaceutical environments, including familiarity with LIMS, clinical data systems, or R&D data workflows, is a strong plus. • Experience operating in dynamic, fast-growing enterprise environments. Soft Skills & Leadership Expectations • Strategic thinker capable of translating architecture into measurable business outcomes. • Strong influencer who can align stakeholders across federated teams without direct authority. • Pragmatic problem-solver who can right-size solutions to match business priorities, timelines, and resource constraints. • Collaborative and comfortable partnering with engineers, analysts, and business leaders across the organization. • Able to operate effectively across multiple business units and competing priorities. Education • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field required. • Advanced degrees or relevant technical certifications (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure, GCP data certifications) are preferred.
