Role description
We are looking for an experienced Principal Data Engineer to join a high-performing consulting team (Austin/ San Francisco) delivering enterprise-scale AI and modern data platform solutions for leading organizations. This role is suited to senior technical professionals who have a strong background in designing and building cloud-native data platforms, scalable data pipelines, and modern data architectures. The successful candidate will have 8-15+ years of data engineering experience with hands-on expertise across technologies such as Databricks, Snowflake, Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Python, SQL, and one or more major cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP. Recent experience delivering AI initiatives is essential, including work with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI Agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP), orchestration frameworks, and AI-powered workflows. Experience with technologies such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, Bedrock, Vertex AI, Azure OpenAI, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, or MLOps would be highly beneficial. This opportunity is best suited to professionals currently working as Principal, Staff, Lead, or Architect-level Data Engineers who enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, modernizing enterprise data platforms, and enabling AI-driven solutions at scale.
