Overview of the Role:
Our medical device client is seeking a Product Analyst to join their team for a 6 month freelance assignment. While this role can be fully remote, local candidates (Acton, MA or San Diego, CA) are preferred. They are seeking a detail-oriented Product Analyst to support data-driven decision-making across its digital ecosystem. This role partners closely with product managers, engineering, and operations teams to transform raw data into clear metrics, insights, and trends that reveal user behavior and product performance. The ideal candidate excels at building dashboards, conducting deep-dive analyses, translating complex data into actionable narratives, and helping product teams align on success criteria. This position suits someone who enjoys uncovering patterns, shaping product strategy, and influencing decisions through evidence-based insights.
The Basics
• Duration: 6 months
• Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Location: Remote; Local candidates preferred in Acton, MA or San Diego, CA
Top 3 Required Qualifications
1. Strong proficiency with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and ability to build clear, insight-driven dashboards.
1. Solid SQL experience working with large, complex datasets to extract, clean, and analyze information.
1. Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical approaches and communicate findings to non-technical audiences.
Other Qualifications
• Strong understanding of customer journey and product metrics (conversion, activation, retention, etc.)
• High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills and bias toward action
• Familiarity with instrumentation and analytics tools such as Amplitude or Google Analytics
• Experience working in fast-paced, iterative environments with shifting priorities
• Experience in healthcare, pharma, or medical devices is a plus
• Advanced MS Excel skills and strong working knowledge of MS Office
• Experience aggregating data across multiple systems, including CRM
• Experience creating dashboards or reports in Salesforce.com
• Experience utilizing BI tools for self-service data and reporting
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Prior experience in an analytics-focused role
Key Responsibilities
• Build, maintain, and enhance dashboards and reports to track product performance, user experience, and product outcomes.
• Partner with product managers to understand KPIs, define measurement plans, and establish success criteria for releases.
• Conduct deep-dive analyses to uncover user behaviors, identify opportunities, and diagnose issues across digital products.
• Translate complex data into clear narratives that influence product strategy and prioritization.
• Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to ensure data quality, accessibility, and alignment with enterprise data models.
• Support product discovery by designing metrics for A/B tests, experiments, and research studies, and by analyzing outcomes.
• Monitor product health and proactively surface insights to anticipate risks or highlight emerging patterns.
• Provide ad-hoc analysis for strategic initiatives, roadmap decisions, and executive-level reporting.
