Product Owner

Job Title: IT Product Owner – Insurance Domain Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 days onsite) Type: Contract / Full-Time Job Summary We are looking for an experienced IT Product Owner with a strong background in the insurance domain to drive product development and deliver high-quality technology solutions aligned with business needs. In this role, you will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that insurance workflows are effectively translated into scalable and efficient system solutions. You will own the product vision, manage the backlog, and ensure successful delivery in an Agile environment. Key Responsibilities Product Ownership & Strategy • Define and own the product vision, roadmap, and priorities • Ensure all product features align with business goals and operational needs • Drive continuous improvements to existing systems and workflows Requirements & Backlog Management • Gather and translate business requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria • Own and prioritize the product backlog based on business value and urgency • Continuously refine requirements based on feedback and evolving needs Business Collaboration • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand insurance processes and challenges • Provide recommendations on system workflows, data structures, and process improvements • Act as a subject matter expert for insurance-related functionalities Cross-Functional Coordination • Collaborate with development, QA, UX, and data teams to ensure clarity of requirements • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, and reviews • Coordinate with internal and external teams for integrations and dependencies Quality & Delivery • Validate delivered features against acceptance criteria • Support testing efforts and ensure functional accuracy • Monitor system performance and recommend enhancements Required Qualifications • Strong experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role • Solid understanding of insurance industry processes, including: • Policy lifecycle (quote, bind, issue, renew) • Underwriting and claims workflows • Brokerage operations • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments • Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Preferred Qualifications • Experience with insurance technology platforms (policy admin systems, CRM, quoting tools) • Exposure to property insurance or commercial insurance workflows • Prior experience in consulting or client-facing roles
