Role description
Overview: We are seeking a Project Controls Analyst to support a portfolio of capital projects with a focus on cost management, forecasting, and financial reporting. This role is best suited for someone with solid project controls experience who can operate with a degree of independence while partnering closely with Project Managers and accounting teams. Key Responsibilities: • Support a portfolio of projects (typically managing financials across ~5–10 projects simultaneously) • Partner directly with Project Managers to track budgets, forecasts, and overall project financial health • Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and ensure proper cost alignment • Own and manage cost tracking, including accruals, actuals, and forecasting (ETC/EAC) • Analyze variances between forecasted and actual costs and provide insights to project teams • Lead monthly close activities, including accrual reviews, cost reconciliation, and reporting • Coordinate with accounting to ensure accurate cost allocation and financial compliance • Build and maintain reporting tools and dashboards (Excel, Power BI, or similar) • Identify opportunities to improve processes related to cost tracking and forecasting Required Experience: • 5–10 years of experience in project controls, project accounting, or cost analysis • Strong understanding of: • Accruals vs. actuals • Forecasting methodologies (ETC/EAC) • Budget management and variance analysis • Experience supporting multiple projects and working directly with Project Managers • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis) • Experience with reporting and data visualization tools (Power BI or similar) Preferred Experience: • Experience with Oracle Projects, Primavera P6, or similar systems • Background supporting capital projects, engineering, or construction environments • Exposure to process improvement or standardization efforts What We’re Looking For: • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail • Clear communication skills, especially when working with non-finance stakeholders • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-volume project environment Environment: • Team-oriented environment with established processes and tools • Opportunity to support large-scale capital projects and work alongside experienced PMs • Emphasis on continued development within project controls JoCo is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
