£600 – £700 (Outside IR35)
Fully Remote
6-month initial Contract
Start: January 2026
Active SC Clearance Required
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Microsoft Purview Specialist with deep expertise in structured data governance, metadata modelling and lineage to take full ownership of a client’s Purview estate.
This role is heavily focused on structured data workstreams, covering catalogue design, metadata curation, lineage, Azure data integrations and establishing scalable governance foundations across enterprise data products and domains.
This is a fully hands-on delivery role requiring a Purview SME who can convert governance requirements into robust, scalable platform configuration.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end deployment and optimisation of structured data capabilities in Microsoft Purview
• Implement and enhance catalogue, glossary, lineage and metadata curation
• Onboard SQL, Azure, and other structured sources, ensuring quality, performance and coverage
• Configure and optimise lineage for ADF, Databricks, Synapse, SQL and other pipelines
• Build and govern data-product and domain models within Purview
• Interpret governance and data-strategy requirements into platform configuration
• Provide structured-data insights, recommendations and roadmap direction to stakeholders
• Support the creation of a scalable, enterprise-wide metadata operating model
• (Secondary) Oversee basic unstructured data scanning and M365 integration where required
Essential Experience
• Active SC Clearance
• Deep, hands-on experience across Microsoft Purview structured capabilities, including:
• Catalogue, glossary and metadata modelling
• Lineage (ADF, Databricks, Synapse, SQL)
• Automated classification for structured datasets
• Data-product and domain structure design
• Metadata curation and schema-level governance
• Proven experience leading Purview deployments independently
• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical groups
• Consulting or client-facing delivery experience
• Ability to translate governance and strategy requirements into structured data configuration
Desirable Skills
• Experience with Azure data services (Fabric, Databricks, Synapse, ADF)
• Understanding of governance frameworks and ownership models (e.g., DAMA)
• Exposure to compliance environments (ISO 27001, GDPR, retention)
• Familiarity with unstructured data scanning and basic M365 integrations (nice to have, not essential)
