Role description
Python Developer Location: Mclean VA (only LOCAL candidates) Note - Ex-Capital one Preferred Overview They need 4 strong Python Software Developers with AWS and database migration experience. The candidate will will support a major transition from an older DynamoDB-based metadata service to a new Aurora-backed platform. This role is primarily backend engineering, data migration, and API developmentβ€”not data science. Responsibilities Develop and enhance AWS Lambda–based services using Python Work on migration of data and APIs from DynamoDB to Aurora (RDS) Build migration scripts, transformation logic, validation utilities, and automated checks Implement a temporary shim layer to connect old and new stacks during tenant transition Perform thorough data validation, schema mapping, and transformation debugging Contribute to syncing Aurora data with Capital One’s OneLake (internal data lake) Support onboarding and metadata management for new tenants Participate in knowledge transfer and handoff to internal ownership teams (ASV) Ensure strong unit tests, integration tests, CI/CD behaviors, and high-quality code Collaborate closely with internal platform teams within IFX (enterprise org) Skills Strong Python development experience (backend/server-side) AWS Lambda, API Gateway / Exchange, ALB Hands-on experience with DynamoDB and RDS/Aurora Experience with API development, data models, and backend services Experience writing unit tests, integration tests, and working with CI/CD analyze and implement business logic for data transformation and migration Familiarity with working in large-scale enterprise cloud environments
