Python Developer

Insight Global is hiring for a Back-End Developer for one our leading clients in the Techology space, that will focus on optimising performance and scaling a security controller platform, that supports millions of devices. You’ll be working on an existing codebase, implementing new features, fixing bugs, and largely contributing to backend improvements. The product is a complex, web-based application with multi-layered architecture -deployed at scale via AWS. Ongoing frontend projects include legal compliance and accessibility enhancements. You’ll also contribute to licensing logic and UI presentation, helping produce more product SKUs and variations. The environment demands a strong understanding and ability to handle large datasets and scale backend systems effectively. While some frontend tasks may arise (e.g., UI licensing logic or accessibility tweaks), the core focus is on backend development, including: • Developing and maintaining APIs and backend services (Python 3, Django, SQL) • Managing background worker services and task queues • Supporting deployment and upgrade processes on customer-hosted servers • Writing and maintaining automated tests (unit, Selenium, CI checks) Must haves: • Strong experience in development with a strong backend focus • Proven experience with Python and Django in large-scale applications • Solid understanding of SQL databases (query interpretation and debugging) • Experience scaling backend systems (e.g., handling 8M+ records) Plusses: • Experience with Celery and background task queues • Exposure to AWS and Azure deployments • Understanding of product architecture This position is a 12 month contract, with the possibility for extensions requiring you to work on-site in Camrbidge 5 days a week.
