Role description
Position Title: Python Developer Specialist Duration: 9 months. Opportunity for extensions. Location: Onsite in McLean, VA – 5 days a week Work Authorization: H1B USC GC Must Have Qualifications: 7+ years of backend development – Python required, strong database skills – SQL Server or DB2, data extraction using Snowflake, and solid data analysis experience. About the Role: β€’ Data engineers with hands-on Python development experience are also suitable for this role, especially if they have a background in Java development. β€’ This is a multi-year upstream modernization initiative that is focused on improving securitization, sourcing and servicing platforms. The team is presently working on securitization, modernization of around 7 Python based applications (upgrades), and standardizing data sourcing, with all applications moving to a new common data source. β€’ The HM’s team acts as downstream consumers of these applications. All the applications are on-prem. β€’ This is a back-end focused role with no front-end work involved. The candidate will be responsible for modifying Python microservices, handling large scale data processing (extraction, transformation), and creating and editing complex SQL queries and joining multiple large tables. The team is transitioning to Snowflake as the new data platform. β€’ Experience with as many Python libraries as possible (Pandas, NumPy etc.) β€’ Snowflake, any RDBMS (DB2 is highly preferred), creating and editing complex SQL queries β€’ Handling large volumes of data and data transformation β€’ Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica is nice to have. Responsibilities: β€’ Work closely with Business, Securitization, and support teams to support technology delivery activities in support of Data Transformation Program. β€’ Play a key role in analyzing and converting complex SQL queries to align with new data sources, supporting large-scale data migrations, and ensuring seamless data integration across multiple systems. β€’ Update applications to source securitization data from Nexus. β€’ Support and execute data migration activities, ensuring data integrity and accuracy. β€’ Work with Snowflake for data warehousing, migration, and advanced analytics. Basic Requirements: β€’ 7+ years of Python and microservices experience is a must. β€’ 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL, including complex query analysis and optimization. β€’ 1 – 3 years of experience in integrating with Snowflake APIs and/or GraphQL for data extraction and manipulation. β€’ 7 – 10 years of IT experience in design, development, integration and testing of software solutions based on Python, REST/SOAP Webservices, and web development. β€’ 7 – 10 years of experience with relational databases including Sybase, SQL Server, and MySQL. Good knowledge and experience with database technologies such as SQL and NoSQL. β€’ Demonstrated ability to analyze and join large datasets across multiple sources. β€’ Proficient in integrating with Snowflake APIs and/or GraphQL for data extraction and manipulation. β€’ 3 – 5 years of experience with managing, building, and deploying code through tools including Jira, Eclipse, GIT, Bitbucket, Gradle, Docker, and Jenkins. β€’ 3 – 5 years of experience designing and executing unit tests using python testing framework based on business requirements and functional specifications. β€’ Experience with popular Python frameworks such as Django, and FAST API. β€’ In-depth understanding of the Python software development stacks, ecosystems, frameworks and tools such as NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Dask, spaCy, NLTK, sci-kit-learn. β€’ Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Preferred Skills: β€’ Work independently contributing to the success of assigned project(s). β€’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data architects, business analysts, and project managers. β€’ Demonstrated business acumen, problem solving skills, intellectual maturity, and relationship management skills. β€’ Prior experience and understanding of Corporate Data Warehouse is a plus. β€’ Experience with ETL tools and data pipeline orchestration. Compensation: 75/hr -90/hr on w2, 80/hr -95/hr on c2c. This is the targeted compensation range for this role. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
