Responsibilities
Kforce has a client that is seeking an ICS Batch Engineer for a remote long-term contract/full time role. Summary: We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Engineer with strong CICS Batch expertise to support the migration of legacy CA DADS Plus environments to IBM CICS Batch Application Control (CBAC). This role is part of a larger DevOps modernization initiative driving improved efficiency, automation, and scalability across IBM Z platforms. As a ICS Batch Engineer, you will play a critical part in defining and implementing control files, developing JCL utilities, testing migration processes, and collaborating closely with application teams to ensure smooth production transitions. Duties:
• Lead the migration of CA DADS Plus control files to CICS Batch Application Control (CBAC) for z/OS
• Create CBAC File Maintenance Utility (FMU) commands and develop JCL to define, initialize, and populate CBAC control files
• Conduct validation and testing of CBAC control files to ensure production readiness
• Collaborate with application engineering teams to support integration and promote migrated components into production
• Provide documentation, troubleshooting, and optimization support throughout the migration lifecycle
Requirements
• Proven experience working in mainframe batch and CICS environments
• Strong JCL, TSO/ISPF, and REXX scripting skills
• Hands-on experience with CICS Transaction Server and batch application operations
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
Preferred Skills
• Prior experience migrating or replacing CA DADS Plus or other legacy mainframe tools
• Knowledge of CICS Batch Application Control (CBAC) setup, configuration, and utilities
• Familiarity with IBM DevOps tools for z/OS environments such as IDz, DBB, UCD, or Wazi Deploy
• Background in mainframe modernization or z/OS transformation projects

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
