Role description
Description Main Purpose Of The Role: Support key quantitative elements of the Risk Management Framework, to ensure strong risk management across all clients. Manage a Risk Analyst dedicated to Risk Analytics and develop the quantitative risk skillset of more junior team members across the wider team. Provide a direct link to the Asta Actuarial & Exposure management teams and other key stakeholders to support risk management and facilitate aspects of Internal Model governance. Your New Role Syndicate Risk Management processes Syndicate Risk management framework: Support the development and maintenance of quantitative elements of the framework liaising with the Head of Risk, Deputy CRO and Team. Risks & Risk Appetites setting and monitoring: Support on quarterly monitoring for Actuarial and Exposure Management (EM) related Risks and Appetites (as a business partner). Support the development of quantitative risk appetite statements to ensure they respond to changing client risk profiles or regulatory requirements. SBF Risk Assessments: Support in the preparation of SBF risk assessments. ORSA: Support in the preparation of ORSA documentation, including the preparation of Stress & Scenario Testing (SST) and Reverse Stress Testing (RST), insurance risk and capital writeups. Review Forward Looking Assessment (FLA) Capital projections. Sensitivity testing: Supporting the wider team on sensitivity testing. Validation Project manage the Validation processes, including those required for Internal Model Approval Processes (IMAPs), Major Model Change (MMC) submissions, and summer LCR submissions, working closely with the Deputy CRO who owns the overall process. Lead the liaison with internal Actuaries & external Validators. Review aspects of Validation performed by the Actuarial department and external parties. Work with EM on validation requirements for external models. Undertake Operational Risk Validation. Report progress to the Internal Model Technical Group (IMTG) and Internal Model Steering Committee (IMSC) as required. Manage the production of the executive summary validation reports. Manage the closure of Validation Actions in conjunction with the Actuarial team. Rectify any findings or actions identified for the Risk Team. Internal Model Manage the processes undertaken by the Risk Team in regard to the Internal Model including attendance and challenge at the IMTG, owning relevant Model Change processes, maintaining Internal Model policies & related governance, and undertaking other duties as directed. Liaise with the stakeholders to set IMSC and IMTG agendas. Review draft IMSC minutes and take actions / notes at IMTG. Prepare update memos on IMTG activities to the IMSC quarterly. Produce quarterly reports on Internal Model governance and validation activities to the AMA Risk Committee and AMA Board Undertake Operational Risk parameterisation as required. Stress & Scenario testing Take an active role in developing the Asta Framework for SSTs & RSTs, including development of standardised processes and a test library. Centralised coordination of SSTs & RSTs in the Risk team, supporting the team in working with the syndicates on testing. Ensure Actuarial stress testing within validation is suitable for use in ORSAs. Relationship Management Provide support and training to the wider Risk Team as required to assist in understanding of quantitative risk processes. Maintain strong working relationships with Actuarial and EM Team colleagues alongside other relevant teams at Asta, to support collaborative working on quantitative risk elements of client oversight, internal projects and risk management processes. What You'll Bring to the Role Communication: Excellent interpersonal and written skills, expresses ideas effectively and listens actively. Analytical: Possesses the ability to understand and solve problems involving data and processes. The role holder does not need to be a qualified actuary, however a quantitative skillset with an Actuarial background, including knowledge of Capital Modelling, Solvency UK and stress & scenario testing is required. Flexibility: Readily adapts to changing priorities and has the ability to work simultaneously on a variety of projects Initiative: The ability to contribute to on-going development / improvements through original thinking, persuasive argument, and a considered approach.
