SAP BODS / HANA & Azure Data Engineering Specialist

Our client in NJ is seeking an experienced SAP BODS / HANA Data Engineering Specialist with strong hands-on expertise in both SAP data warehousing and modern cloud-based data integration tools. The ideal candidate will be highly autonomous and capable of designing and delivering scalable data solutions across SAP and Azure ecosystems. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and implement data warehousing and data integration solutions using SAP BODS and SAP HANA. • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and define end-to-end data architecture. • Build and maintain data models, mappings, ETL/ELT workflows using BODS. • Develop robust pipelines using modern data engineering tools such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric components. • Ensure strong data governance, data quality, and metadata management across SAP and cloud platforms. • Integrate SAP-based data solutions with broader enterprise systems and cloud environments. • Troubleshoot performance issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement optimized solutions. • Stay current on best practices across SAP BODS/HANA and Azure’s data engineering toolset to continuously enhance the data platform. Requirements • 8-10+ years of hands-on experience in SAP BODS and SAP HANA, with strong focus on data warehousing and ETL development. • Deep knowledge of BODS data integration, data quality, and data governance features. • Strong understanding of HANA database architecture, SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning. • Practical experience with Azure-based data engineering tools, including Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric (or equivalent modern cloud data platform experience). • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT frameworks, and enterprise data architecture. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. Nice to Have • Experience with additional SAP technologies such as SAP BW, BI, or SAP ERP. • Familiarity with visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or SAP Analytics Cloud. • Relevant certifications in SAP BODS, SAP HANA, or Azure data engineering. • Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and version control systems. Location & Work Model • Onsite / Hybrid — 4 days onsite with 1-day remote WFH per week.
