• Define migration roadmap to Microsoft Fabric, including timelines, risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Ensure minimal disruption to business processes during migration.
• Architecture & Design
• Design end-to-end data architecture leveraging Microsoft Fabric components (Data Lake, OneLake, Data Factory, Synapse, Power BI).
• Map SAS EG datasets, transformations, and reports to Fabric-native equivalents.
• Establish best practices for data ingestion, transformation, and consumption in Fabric.
• Implementation & Execution
• Lead migration of SAS EG jobs, macros, and stored processes into Fabric pipelines.
• Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to validate migrated reports and dashboards.
• Governance & Security
• Implement data governance, lineage, and cataloging within Fabric.
• Ensure compliance with organizational data security and privacy standards.
• Define monitoring and alerting mechanisms for migrated workloads.
• Collaboration & Leadership
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including data engineers, BI developers, and business stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members.
• Act as subject matter expert for SAS-to-Fabric migration initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
• Strong expertise in SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Base, and SAS Macros.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Data Factory, Synapse, Power BI).
• Solid understanding of data migration methodologies and ETL/ELT processes.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, or PySpark for data engineering tasks.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and security frameworks.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience migrating SAS workloads to cloud-native platforms.
• Familiarity with Azure Data Lake Storage, Databricks, and Power BI.
• Strong background in data modelling and performance optimization.
• Certification in Microsoft Azure Data Engineer / Architect or equivalent.
