Contract Role: Senior AI Engineer Contract Location: London or Sheffield (Hybrid) Contract Duration: 6 months initially Contract Start Date: Immediate Contract Classification: Inside IR35 Role Overview This is an exciting opportunity to join Deloitte for an engagement with a leading global Tier 1 Financial Services organisation. We are seeking an experienced Senior AI Engineer to lead the implementation of advanced conversational AI solutions, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines, and agentic AI frameworks. The successful candidate will focus on exploratory data analysis, signal/noise reduction, and extracting actionable insights from large operational, GCIO, and R&C datasets. Key Responsibilities • Design and implement conversational AI agents and enterprise-grade AI solutions. • Develop and optimise RAG pipelines using vector databases and LLM orchestration frameworks. • Build and maintain agentic AI architectures for autonomous workflows and decision support. • Perform exploratory data analysis on large-scale operational datasets to identify trends and use cases. • Reduce noise and improve data quality for downstream AI applications. • Collaborate with Data Scientists and Data Engineers to integrate AI solutions into enterprise platforms. • Work with stakeholders to define AI use cases and measurable business outcomes. • Ensure scalability, security, governance, and performance of AI systems. Required Skills & Experience • Strong experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI application development. • Expertise in Python and AI frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or similar. • Experience building RAG pipelines and integrating vector databases. • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP. • Strong understanding of data engineering and MLOps principles. • Experience with exploratory data analysis and data visualisation techniques. • Ability to lead technical delivery and mentor junior engineers. • Excellent stakeholder communication skills. Desirable Skills • Experience within government, operational, or regulated environments. • Knowledge of AI governance, responsible AI, and security best practices. • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
