Senior AI Search Optimization Engineer (GEO / LLMO) Location: 100% Remote (Must overlap with North American business hours) Employment Type: Contract (Initial 3-month contract, extendable on a rolling basis based on performance and business needs.) About the Role We are seeking a Senior AI Search Optimization Engineer (GEO / LLMO) to maximize our visibility across AI-powered search and answer engines, including ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Bing Copilot, and emerging Large Language Model (LLM) platforms. This is not a traditional SEO role. You will be responsible for engineering our digital marketing ecosystem so AI systems can accurately understand, retrieve, cite, and recommend our products, documentation, and marketing content. Working at the intersection of Marketing Engineering, Technical SEO, Information Architecture, Structured Data Engineering, and AI Search Optimization, you will build scalable frameworks that improve AI discoverability, increase qualified B2B traffic, and position our content for success in the rapidly evolving AI search landscape. What You'll Own As the Senior AI Search Optimization Engineer, you will own the company's AI search visibility strategy and continuously improve how our websites and digital assets perform across modern AI-powered search experiences. Key Responsibilities AI Search Optimization • Optimize websites and digital properties for AI-powered search platforms including ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Bing Copilot, and future LLM-powered search engines. • Develop and execute Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategies that improve AI-generated citations, recommendations, and discoverability. • Continuously monitor AI search trends and adapt optimization strategies as AI search technologies evolve. LLM Optimization & Content Discoverability • Improve how Large Language Models interpret, retrieve, and reference website content. • Design AI-friendly information architecture that enables accurate retrieval by conversational AI systems. • Optimize content hierarchy, semantic HTML, internal linking, metadata, and page structure for AI readability. • Ensure technical documentation, product pages, and marketing assets are structured for maximum AI discoverability. Structured Data & Entity Engineering • Design and implement structured data using Schema.org, JSON-LLD, FAQ, Product, Organization, Article, SoftwareApplication, and related schema types. • Build entity-based content models that strengthen relationships between products, documentation, customer use cases, and technical resources. • Improve semantic markup that enables AI systems to better understand business context. Technical Website Optimization • Optimize Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) across all customer-facing websites. • Improve crawlability, indexing, rendering performance, and mobile-first user experience. • Partner with engineering teams using Astro, Contentful, and modern Jamstack architectures to ensure websites are optimized for both users and AI search systems. • Maintain high-performance, responsive web experiences across desktop and mobile platforms. Marketing Engineering • Partner with Product Marketing and Content teams to develop AI-ready content strategies. • Design scalable landing pages optimized for AI search visibility and qualified B2B lead generation. • Improve website architecture and content organization to maximize citations in AI-generated responses. Analytics & Performance Measurement • Measure visibility across leading AI search platforms. • Track AI-generated referral traffic and citation frequency. • Analyze AI search performance, engagement metrics, and marketing attribution. • Recommend continuous improvements based on AI search trends and performance insights. Required Qualifications • 5+ years of experience in Marketing Engineering, Technical SEO, Digital Platform Engineering, or a related field. • Proven experience implementing Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and Large Language Model Optimization (LLMO) strategies. • Strong understanding of AI-powered search platforms and conversational search technologies. • Hands-on experience implementing structured data using Schema.org and JSON-LD. • Strong expertise in Technical SEO and semantic HTML. • Experience improving website discoverability for AI-powered search engines. • Experience working with Astro or modern Jamstack frameworks. • Experience using Contentful or other Headless CMS platforms. • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript. • Experience optimizing Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS). • Experience building mobile-first, responsive websites. • Experience with Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager. • Experience integrating HubSpot CRM and marketing attribution platforms. • Experience using Git and CI/CD pipelines. Preferred Qualifications • Experience improving visibility in ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, or Perplexity. • Experience with Knowledge Graph optimization and entity-based SEO. • Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts and AI retrieval systems. • Experience analyzing AI crawler behavior and AI referral traffic. • Experience working within B2B SaaS organizations. • Understanding of marketing automation and revenue operations platforms.
