Role description
Job Summary
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join the Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) team. This is a critical technical role acting as the bridge between business risk requirements and data implementation. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, quality, and auditability of data used in risk assessments and transaction monitoring.
This is a "hands-on builder" role for someone who excels at slicing and dicing complex datasets to support regulatory and audit challenges.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Data Orchestration: Consolidate requirements from downstream business partners and work with upstream data providers to implement and validate them.
Technical Analysis: Write complex SQL queries and Python scripts to extract, manipulate, and analyze data within an Azure environment.
Quality Assurance: Perform deep-dive data validation (e.g., verifying customer counts and transaction limits) and challenge upstream providers if data quality is insufficient.
Audit Defense: Document data requirements and processes in a "crisp," auditable format to support formal regulatory and audit inquiries.
Reporting Support: Assist in documenting the data requirements for Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to support overall risk reporting.
Must-Have Qualifications
8+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or data engineering within a banking or highly regulated environment.
Expert SQL & Python: You must be able to perform advanced data extraction and "slicing and dicing" independently.
AML/Financial Crimes Knowledge: Solid understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) principles and Transaction Monitoring.
Audit Experience: Proven ability to create documentation that meets the strict standards of internal and external auditors.
Technical Stack: Experience working within Azure cloud environments.
Nice-to-Haves
Flexible Domain Knowledge: While AML is preferred, we will consider candidates with elite SQL/Python skills and a strong background in general Risk & Compliance.
Visualization: Experience with Power BI or Tableau.
Regulatory Exposure: Prior experience handling 2nd Line of Defense (2LoD) or 3rd Line of Defense (Audit) challenges.
Why Join This Team?
This is a high-visibility project within a leading financial institution. You will be part of a fluid, 8-10 person team where your work directly impacts the bank's risk posture and regulatory standing. We value initiative, technical precision, and the ability to join and contribute immediately.
location: Telecommute
job type: Contract
salary: $75 - 85 per hour
work hours: 8am to 5pm
education: Bachelors
