Department: GSMA Intelligence Team: Forecasting and Modelling Location: London (hybrid working) Position type: Fixed Term Contract What The Hiring Manager Says We’re looking for an experienced and commercially aware analyst who combines strong forecasting expertise with the ability to lead projects and support others within a collaborative team environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning complex industry developments into robust forecasts and actionable insight while helping drive the evolution of our modelling capabilities and data products. You’ll take ownership of strategic forecasting initiatives, contribute directly to thought leadership and work closely with senior stakeholders across GSMA Intelligence and the wider mobile ecosystem. Alongside delivering high-quality analysis, you’ll play an important role in mentoring colleagues, coordinating smaller project teams and helping shape the future direction of our forecasting work Matthew Iji – Head of Forecasting and Modelling About The Team GSMA Intelligence is the definitive source of global mobile operator data, analysis and forecasts, providing industry-leading insight to operators, vendors, regulators, investors and technology companies worldwide. The Forecasting and Modelling team develops and maintains a comprehensive suite of forecasts covering mobile subscribers, network technologies, financial performance, IoT, fixed-mobile convergence and emerging industry trends. The team is continuing to evolve its modelling approaches, data infrastructure and analytical capabilities to support increasingly complex market requirements and long-term industry transformation. Working closely with research, consulting and data acquisition teams, we play a central role in delivering trusted industry intelligence used across the global mobile ecosystem. You’ll join a highly collaborative team where you’ll have the opportunity to lead meaningful projects, develop specialist expertise and contribute directly to strategic industry analysis. About The Role As a Senior Analyst, you will take ownership of forecasting activities across a defined set of markets, technologies or strategic topic areas, ensuring the delivery of accurate, commercially relevant and forward-looking industry forecasts. You’ll combine quantitative modelling with qualitative market analysis to explain industry developments and support both internal and external stakeholders. You’ll lead smaller forecasting projects and workstreams, coordinating contributions from colleagues across data collection, research and modelling teams to deliver high-quality outputs. You’ll also support the development of junior analysts through collaboration, guidance and knowledge sharing, helping maintain consistency and analytical rigour across the team. Alongside core forecasting responsibilities, you’ll contribute to research reports, thought leadership and strategic initiatives linked to emerging industry developments such as next-generation networks, AI-enabled services, financial performance trends and evolving business models. You’ll engage with stakeholders and help communicate complex insights in a clear and commercially meaningful way. Success in the role will come from your ability to balance technical modelling expertise with leadership, communication and project coordination skills. You’ll be expected to establish ownership of key forecasting areas, improve existing modelling approaches, contribute to strategic projects and become a recognised subject matter expert within your specialist domain. About You You’ll bring experience in forecasting, modelling, market analysis or related analytical work, alongside a strong understanding of the mobile, telecoms or technology sectors. You’ll be comfortable working with large and complex datasets and able to combine quantitative analysis with commercial and strategic thinking. You’ll need strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to explain assumptions, challenge ideas constructively and present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. You’ll also be confident coordinating smaller projects or workstreams and supporting colleagues within a collaborative team environment. The role would suit someone who enjoys solving complex analytical problems, identifying opportunities to improve processes and helping shape the direction of future forecasting activities. Strong Excel and data analysis skills are essential, while experience with forecasting methodologies, financial analysis, telecoms datasets or statistical modelling tools would be highly beneficial. About Your Skills Analysis - you'll be able to translate complex industry developments, market data and commercial trends into robust forecasts and actionable insight. You will use multiple data sources to challenge assumptions, identify emerging trends and build credible views of future market developments. Your analysis will underpin industry-leading forecasts used by operators, vendors, investors and other stakeholders to support strategic planning and long-term decision making. Communication - you'll be able to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly and confidently to a wide range of audiences. Whether presenting forecast assumptions, explaining methodology or discussing market developments, you'll ensure stakeholders understand both the conclusions and the rationale behind them. Project Management - you'll be capable of leading small to medium-sized analytical projects from scoping through to delivery. You'll coordinate inputs from multiple stakeholders, manage competing priorities and ensure outputs are delivered to a high standard and within agreed timelines. Stakeholder Management - you'll build trusted relationships across GSMA Intelligence and the wider organisation, working closely with data collection, research, consulting and commercial teams. You'll be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, incorporating feedback and balancing different perspectives. Leadership - you'll provide guidance and support to colleagues within the team, sharing expertise and helping maintain high analytical standards. you'll act as a subject matter expert, mentor less experienced analysts and help drive continuous improvement across forecasting activities.
