Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, onsite Senior Web Analytics Engineer with deep, hands-on expertise in Google Analytics 4 (GA4). In this role, you will own the end-to-end implementation, configuration, governance, and optimization of our analytics ecosystem. You will serve as the technical authority for GA4, Google Tag Manager (GTM), and associated Google Marketing Platform (GMP) tools.
Working closely with product, development, and marketing teams, you will define technical analytics requirements, maintain data accuracy, build scalable tracking solutions, and deliver insights that fuel conversion optimization, customer engagement, and retail performance.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Implementation
β’ Design, implement, and maintain scalable GA4 tracking solutions using GTM across web and mobile applications.
β’ Manage the complete tag lifecycle in GTM, including tags, triggers, and variables.
β’ Develop and maintain a robust, standardized data layer (including e-commerce data layer frameworks).
β’ Configure GA4 data streams, events, parameters, custom dimensions, metrics, and audiences aligned with business KPIs.
β’ Prepare and maintain detailed Analytics Implementation Guides (AIGs) and technical documentation.
Validation, Quality Assurance & Debugging
β’ Conduct rigorous validation and QA using GA DebugView, Google Tag Assistant, Charles Proxy, and browser developer tools.
β’ Ensure high data accuracy, governance, and technical integrity across digital platforms.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategy
β’ Partner with product managers and development teams in Agile/Scrum sprints to translate business requirements into analytics specifications.
β’ Provide actionable insights through funnel analysis, behavioral analytics, A/B testing, and traffic analysis.
β’ Utilize the Google Marketing Platform (GA4, Google Ads, Google Optimize) to measure ROI, campaign impact, and customer journeys, especially in retail and e-commerce funnels.
Reporting, Dashboards & Integrations
β’ Build and automate dashboards in GA4 Explorations and Looker Studio.
β’ Support API integrations with BI tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
β’ Lead integration efforts between GA4, Google Ads, BigQuery, and other Google Marketing Platform tools.
β’ Implement and manage cross-domain and cross-device tracking using User-ID and Google Signals.
Data Governance & Compliance
β’ Ensure all analytics tracking complies with GDPR, CCPA, and internal privacy/consent guidelines.
β’ Collaborate with legal and privacy teams to maintain compliant data practices.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Core Experience
β’ 5+ years of hands-on experience in digital/web analytics, with expert-level proficiency in GA4 and the Google Marketing Platform.
Technical Skills
β’ Google Stack: GA4, GTM, Looker Studio, BigQuery (advanced preferred).
β’ Web Technologies: Strong working knowledge of JavaScript, JSON, HTML, CSS.
β’ Data & BI: Advanced SQL skills; experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
β’ Debugging Tools: GA DebugView, Tag Assistant, Charles Proxy, browser developer tools.
β’ Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts (Star/Snowflake schemas), especially in retail/e-commerce analytics environments.
Functional Skills
β’ Ability to design and document analytics implementation frameworks.
β’ Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
β’ Proven success working in fast-paced Agile/Scrum teams.
β’ Highly self-directed, organized, and capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
