Role description
About the role The Senior Analytics Model Developer is responsible for designing, developing & testing analytics models, which will be provided to our user community through different levels of Analytics & BI (ABI) curation depending on the needs of the audience, thus translating our core data products into measurable business value. Our strategic analytics models will provide the backbone of our data as a service offering, enabling business users and insight teams to solve problems, answer questions and make decisions, via ABI tools such as Cognos Analytics & Power BI. The person in post will work with the Head of ABI and relevant technical communities to help define, design, plan and implement our strategic approach to delivering analytics models into our data eco system, that can be consumed through more advanced, AI-based self-service toolsets in the future. The Senior Analytics Model Developer will work with analytics partners and stakeholders to define model requirements, including business logic & metrics and work with the information architects & analytics partners to ensure our data products follow a ‘build once, use many’ principle, facilitating remediation activities where required and will mentor other members of the team on approach and toolset, where needed. The role holder will document our analytics models and ensure they follow the necessary data engineering standards, architectural principles and have appropriate governance. They will work closely with our data engineering and production support teams to ensure our analytics models are ready for handover, providing the necessary sign-offs and documentation to ensure the data engineering/production support teams can carry out all the necessary steps to achieve a production implementation. We operate on a team led hybrid approach with at least 1 day a quarter in the Coventry or Manchester office and as business needs require. A strong collaborator, you’ll work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, communicating clearly and listening actively. You’ll bring an ownership mindset, be comfortable challenging and being challenged, and demonstrate strong business acumen, adaptability, integrity, and organisational skills. For this role you’ll need to have: • Significant experience in data modelling and more specifically, star-schema design • Extensive hands‑on experience delivering analytics and business intelligence data models, • Strong grounding in data warehousing principles • Expertise in data and metadata management • Thorough understanding of security standards and controls • Experience working with cloud data warehouse technologies, ideally Amazon Redshift, • Advanced SQL skills Experience in these areas would be helpful: • Experience of Jira • Version Control (GitHub) • Experience with ABI tools (preferably Power BI and/or Cognos Analytics) About us In 2025, Coventry Building Society purchased The Co-operative Bank.
