Role description
Title: Sr AI/ML Engineer
Location: 100% remote
Contract: 6-month contract with likely extension
Start Date: 12/1 or earlier
Key Responsibilities
• Design and build scalable AI/ML solutions for healthcare data processing, predictive modeling, and analytics.
• Develop and optimize data pipelines using Python, Spark, SQL, and Airflow to support advanced analytics and machine learning workloads.
• Integrate and manage healthcare data leveraging FHIR and HL7 interoperability standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, product managers, and healthcare domain experts to translate requirements into production-grade solutions.
• Implement best practices for MLOps, data quality, and automation within Databricks and Microsoft Azure environments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by introducing new tools, frameworks, and automation to enhance development efficiency.
Qualifications
• 4+ years of professional experience in AI/ML software engineering or data engineering roles.
• Healthcare industry experience required, with a strong understanding of healthcare data standards and compliance considerations (e.g., HIPAA).
• Databricks and Microsoft Azure certifications (required).
• Proficient in:
• Python (data processing, ML frameworks, automation)
• Apache Spark (distributed data processing)
• SQL (data modeling, transformations, optimization)
• Airflow (workflow orchestration and automation)
• Deep understanding of FHIR and HL7 data integration.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative, fast-paced, startup-like environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience deploying ML models in production environments.
• Familiarity with healthcare data warehouses, EHR systems, or interoperability platforms.
• Exposure to MLOps tools such as MLflow, Azure ML, or Kubeflow.
