Role description
Job Summary Join a high-impact cloud modernization initiative supporting large-scale enterprise data migration projects. We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Data Migration Engineer to lead Oracle-to-AWS migration efforts using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), cloud-native technologies, and Infrastructure as Code. In this hybrid role, you will design and implement secure, scalable migration solutions, automate cloud deployments, and support mission-critical data modernization initiatives. You'll collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to execute migration strategies, optimize AWS infrastructure, and ensure seamless cutovers with minimal business disruption. The ideal candidate has deep experience with AWS DMS, Oracle database migrations, core AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda), Terraform or CloudFormation, ETL/ELT processes, and cloud automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Experience with hybrid cloud environments, cloud networking, and enterprise modernization initiatives is highly valued. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex cloud transformation projects while helping modernize critical enterprise systems using the latest AWS technologies in a collaborative hybrid work environment. location: Austin, Texas job type: Contract salary: $68 - 78 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors Responsibilities Job Responsibilities • Design and implement Oracle-to-AWS data migration solutions using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) • Execute full-load, Change Data Capture (CDC), and real-time streaming data migrations • Design and configure AWS networking components including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, VPNs, and Direct Connect • Deploy and manage AWS cloud services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and Lambda • Develop infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or AWS CloudFormation) • Support ETL/ELT processes and cloud-based data integration solutions • Create migration plans, cutover strategies, rollback procedures, and minimize production downtime • Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell • Configure monitoring and logging using AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail • Document technical architectures, migration procedures, and operational runbooks • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders throughout migration projects • Support modernization of legacy on-premises systems into hybrid cloud environments Qualifications Qualifications: 8+ years of IT experience supporting the design, development, deployment, or delivery of technology solutions 8+ years of experience migrating Oracle databases to AWS using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) Strong experience with batch processing, full-load migrations, CDC, and streaming architectures Extensive knowledge of AWS infrastructure and networking Hands-on experience with EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, and related AWS services Experience using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation Experience with ETL/ELT processes and cloud migration methodologies Proficiency with Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting Experience configuring VPNs, Direct Connect, security groups, and hybrid cloud connectivity Experience using AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail Experience creating migration, cutover, and rollback plans Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience modernizing legacy on-premises environments Preferred Qualifications AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database - Specialty Experience supporting Texas state agencies or other public sector organizations Equal Opportunity Employer: Race, Color, Religion, Sex, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, National Origin, Age, Genetic Information, Disability, Protected Veteran Status, or any other legally protected group status.
