Role: Senior AWS Fullstack Developer
Contract Length: 3 Months (extensions available for up to 12 months)
Start Date: June 2025
Operating Hours: 24/7 (on call, on a rota basis)
Work Location: Remote – Occasional travel to Manchester, Central London or Croydon
IR35 Status: Inside IR35

A Senior AWS Fullstack Developer is required by a government end client to develop and maintain existing software through a ticket system for incident, change, problem processes and service requests in accordance with the agreed PPPT / DDaT operating models.
Key Responsibilities:
• Developing and maintaining the existing service.
• Building new, large microservices (high availability with strong data integrity).
• Updating service documentation where necessary.
• Conducting peer reviews.
• Demonstration and acceptance of changes by the Programme Manager or agent, on behalf of PM, during Sprint Reviews.
• Provide on-call support as part of a 24/7 L3 support team.
• Supporting and mentoring junior staff
Essential Skills:
• Backend Development: Java v17, Spring/Spring Boot, Alfresco/Activiti/Camunda
• Frontend Development: JavaScript/Vue.js/Angular/HTML/XML
• Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Jenkins CI/CD, Kubernetes/Docker, Terraform, Local Stack
• Data: JPA/Hibernate, PostgreSQL/MongoDB/MySQL, Kafka
• Architecture: Microservices Architecture (high availability), REST APIs
• Security: PKIs, KeyCloak, Observability & Monitoring
• Testing: JUnit (or similar i.e. Mockito), TDD, Integration Tests & End-To-End Testing
• Best Practices: SOLID principles
• Good communication and interpersonal skills working with various stakeholders
• Leadership and mentoring experience
Desirable Skills:
• Backend Development: Gradle, Liquibase
• Frontend Development: React, Typescript
• Cloud & DevOps: Deep knowledge of DevOps principles and GitOps practices, Linux (in a containerized environment), Apache Zookeeper, Apache Nifi
• Data: Redis, GIS
• Architecture: API Spec (Swagger OpenAPI)
