Senior Azure ETL / Data Engineer

Job Title: Senior Azure ETL / Data Engineer Client: State Government Client Location: Tallahassee, FL (100% On-site at the Carlton Building) Work Type: Onsite Duration: Anticipated Initial Term (05/04/2026 - 06/30/2026) with option for a 12-month renewal (July 2026 – June 2027) About the Role: We are seeking a Senior Azure ETL Developer to support the Client. You will drive the development of data integration pipelines to enable efficient and reliable access to critical data within the Correction Information Management System (CIMS) Data Warehouse and Data Lake on Azure. You will leverage a modern Azure technical stack to transform complex datasets into actionable business insights. Key Responsibilities: • ETL Pipeline Design & Development: Lead the design and development of high-performing ETL processes. Automate and streamline data workflows using Azure Data Factory (ADF) from source to target. • Data Integration & Transformation: Build complex workflows to extract, transform, and load data for analytics. Ensure data accuracy, security, and quality via rigorous validation processes. • Cloud Platform Expertise: Leverage the Azure ecosystem (ADF, Databricks, Synapse, and Purview) to manage and process high volumes of structured and unstructured data. Integrate large datasets into Azure Synapse Analytics for downstream reporting. • Performance Optimization: Continuously optimize ETL jobs to minimize latency and maximize throughput, ensuring fast and reliable data access. • Security & Compliance: Embed security best practices, adhere to data governance policies, and use Azure Purview to track data lineage. Enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) protocols. • Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams (data engineers, analysts, security experts) to deliver scalable solutions and mentor junior team members. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or 4+ years of equivalent work experience). • 7+ years of extensive experience in ETL development and data engineering. • 3+ years of hands-on experience working directly with Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Purview. • Strong expertise in Spark, Python, and/or Scala for large-scale data transformations. • Advanced proficiency in SQL and handling complex data structures. • In-depth knowledge of data governance, security protocols, and RBAC within the Azure ecosystem.
