Senior Backbase Developer

Arka is seeking an experienced Backbase Specialist to design, develop, and deliver modern digital banking experiences leveraging the Backbase Engagement Banking Platform. This role will work closely with product owners, architects, and banking stakeholders to implement seamless, omni-channel journeys across web and mobile platforms. The ideal candidate brings a blend of strong Backbase platform expertise, full-stack development skills, and deep understanding of digital banking ecosystems. Roles and Responsibilities: Solution Design & Development • Design and implement end-to-end digital banking journeys across retail, SME, corporate, and wealth segments. • Leverage Backbase components including widgets, microservices, and integration services to build scalable solutions. • Customize and configure Backbase front-end components (Angular/React-based widgets, theming, UX) aligned with branding and UX standards. Backend & Integration • Develop and maintain backend services and extensions using Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs. • Integrate Backbase with core banking systems, CRM platforms, payment gateways, and third-party services via REST, MQ, or ESB/iPaaS. • Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth2, OpenID Connect). Architecture & Best Practices • Participate in architecture discussions ensuring adherence to Backbase reference architecture, scalability, and security standards. • Apply microservices and event-driven architecture patterns for robust system design. DevOps & Deployment • Support CI/CD pipeline setup and deployment across environments using Kubernetes, OpenShift, or cloud platforms. • Ensure smooth releases and environment stability across Dev, QA, UAT, and Production. Quality & Support • Troubleshoot defects, optimize performance, and resolve production issues. • Collaborate with QA teams to ensure high-quality deliverables. Collaboration & Agile Delivery • Work closely with product owners, business analysts, and designers to translate requirements into actionable user stories. • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing Mentor junior developers on Backbase platform concepts and development best practices. Create technical documentation, runbooks, and deployment guides. Qualifications & Requirements 2+ years of experience in Java/Spring or equivalent enterprise stack. 5+ years of hands-on Backbase implementation experience. Strong expertise in Backbase platform concepts: journeys, widgets, microservices, entitlements, and integration services. Front-end development experience with Angular or React, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design. Backend expertise in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, JSON, and security frameworks (OAuth2/OIDC). Experience integrating enterprise systems (core banking, payments, identity providers). Hands-on experience with microservices, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift. Solid understanding of digital banking domains: onboarding, payments, lending, and servicing. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage business and technical stakeholders. Nice-to-Have Familiarity with DevOps and observability tools (Git, Jenkins/Azure DevOps, SonarQube, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK). Experience with Backbase Professional Services or certified partners.
